Washington DC Mod [WIP]
Newfoundking replied to PaganiZonda760's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
Yeah. Those weirder units require some deep searching to find them, since they often have some WEIRD tag lines. Fortunately for you, they seem to have a pretty basic paint scheme, so you don't need a lot of reference pictures. -
Credits to Content Authors
Newfoundking replied to Newfoundking's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
If you post a picture of something in a showcase form, such as a single unit, (or a couple) then you should credit the author. It's a little upsetting when I spend twelve hours on a unit, and see someone slap a reskin on it, showcasing it as their work. Now if you made a full reskin mod, and didn't release it, but did a gameplay video, I don't expect a full list of everyone. This is mostly just for showcases, when people are making it look like they contributed a lot more to it than they did. If you made a reskin, that's fine, and if you want to show it off, that's fine too, but if you're doing it, just be cool about it. Give credit where it's due. I know I'd be hurt if someone posted my unit saying "Look at my new Charger" when it's just a reskin on MY work. Just say something like "Here's my RNC skin on itchboy's charger." It's simple, doesn't take that long, and it's fair. EDIT: I changed the first post to include a FAQ section, of questions I've answered here and around the forums (especially PMs, where you can't see them) -
Washington DC Mod [WIP]

I'll restate it as simply as I can. If you post a showcase on this site, you must say who made the stuff you're posting in the same post. Examples: That video you posted Model - Itchboy Picture of car Model - Itchboy Skin - Newfoundking Fleet shot Models by MikeyPI, Hoppah That simple. Don't say there's credits to be found elsewhere. They're to be found explicitly here. The full breakdown is in reference to if you have multiple vehicles in a picture, you don't need to credit everyone in full, just a list of who contributed, such as: "Models from itchboy, MikeyPI Newfoundking" That is perfectly fine If it was a link to a site where the content was credited appropriately, that's fine. Problem is, the showcase is embedded here, so that means the credits must be embedded here. If I can't see the names when I see the content, it's considered in violation. Names must be in the post. If you're having trouble comprehending this, PM a staff member with what you plan on posting before you post it. I really don't see how this can get much clearer. There's four different tutorials on this site, and at least ten on Z Mod, as well as hundreds more in existence. If you came here with a problem you couldn't get past, someone would help you. It's not a team sport. You follow the tutorials and you'll learn. It's not that hard if you'll willing to dedicate the time to learn. And to those curious about the Secret Service Marked Cars. The ones in these units are not the black suits you see following the president. There's a site here with more information on the Uniformed Division. There are Tahoes and Suburbans in the service fleet from what I can see, it appears they function as do most police departments, buying and outfitting the standard PPV packages. -
Los Angeles Mod Vehicle Set [STOPPED]
Newfoundking replied to itchboy's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
You are trying to stir the pot. This isn't a project. This is a part of a project. You look like an idiot when you start one mod, get halfway through it, and stop when you run out of things to reskin. You further development when you decide to take a bunch of models and make a mod out of it. People need to get over themselves, shut up whining that they'll have to wait for a project to be developed. For me, it's starting to look a LOT like people are pissed they won't get a release, which looks like begging for a release date, which not only doesn't work here, it gets a suspension. If he dropped everything, and decided to start afresh, I'd be pissed. Hell, everyone would be. Thing is, he's got a load of vehicles, all sharing a theme. Deciding to make a mod, instead of releasing bare models isn't hypocritical. Everyone needs to calm down. -

I went ahead and editted your post there. Now, here's how things go here. I don't know about anyone else, but unless I open that video on Youtube, I can't see the credits. It's bad enough that you're avoiding credits, but you're going out of your way to do it now. It actually took more time to type that you can get credits elsewhere, than to actually just say Itchboy made the model. You're suspended next time I have to tell you to credit properly. This is no longer a point of explanation, it cannot be ANY clearer. EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU SHOWCASE SOMETHING, YOU MUST HAVE EXPLICIT AND COMPLETE CREDITS IN THE POST. -
Los Angeles Mod Vehicle Set [STOPPED]
Newfoundking replied to itchboy's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
So apparently there's a lot of confusion here on this. Now itchboy, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but here's what is happening: Itchboy has chosen to develop a load of vehicles and models for the game. Instead of releasing these models in a pack that people will reskin and use in their own mod, he has decided to use them for something else, namely his own mod. I don't understand the shock and awe here. Almost EVERY single legitimate mod creator has made their own models for their own mod. Why is it shocking that itchboy is doing the same? -

This is my LAST warning. Next time I'll remove your posts and warn you. You NEED to credit those who make the content you are showcasing. Is this Impala completely yours? With help from no one else? If not, then you need to credit those that did it. http://forum.emergency-planet.com/topic/20249-credits-to-content-authors/ Read this and follow it. -
L.A. County Modification (Reskin of L.A. Mod)
Newfoundking replied to a topic in Mod Development and Concepts
Heh, the irony in that last post. Anyways, I'm gonna go ahead and put a time lock on this thread. Obviously there won't be any updates for a minimum of two weeks, as the OP was suspended for that time. I figured maybe you guys would talk about the mod some more, but clearly not at this point, everyone wants to talk gossip. Let's keep this topic on topic. As for Gossip, seriously, go create a topic in the OffTopic forum. -

Light package looks good. Who made the unit? -
L.A. County Modification (Reskin of L.A. Mod)
Newfoundking replied to a topic in Mod Development and Concepts
To expand further on what itchboy said, I wanna add my two cents The point of releasing the units is so that you can add them to your LA mod, and play with them. That's totally cool as long as you don't release it. In fact, this was the way for about five years before Hoppah made his mod free to edit, and people stopped making their own REAL mods. People actually played mods, and if they wanted something more, they made it themselves, even if it was a terrible reskin job. They didn't release it, other than pictures, and they played their game. Honestly, I'd have the same policy on the content I put up. Feel free to use it, play with it, but no, you're not throwing a reskin on it and calling it a mod. I miss the days when we had six mods, but they were mods that people actually created from scratch and developed something that made them stand out. Now we've got 300 mods, and they're mostly shared models, scripts, and just new skins. It bothers me that we have people this selfish that they'd rather complain about someone not allowing their add on pack for one mod to be reskinned and placed under a different mod, than to actually shut up and enjoy what's being given for the use of others. I took itchboy's released pack, spent half an hour or whatever adding all the vehicles to the scripts, and files to make it work nice in the game. It's given my LA mod a fresh world again. I didn't complain because I couldn't slap an RNC logo on the doors and call it the NL Mod, I enjoyed what I was given. It's a shame that people complained enough to make itchyboy not want to release anything else, but I can't say I'm surprised. This community has become largely a group of children who only know gimme gimme, and barely anything else it seems. I'm disappointed, -
Hello, welcome to the site. We do not bump old topics. This will serve as your only warning. Next time you will receive sanctions. FYI This is a VERY old topic(Last post over 2 years ago)

Yes, the map has enough water to function properly with the designed water missions. Much more than other mods like LA or what have you. The thing is though, given the size of the map in the game, the boats picked are able to fit perfectly in the map and function properly as well. If you put a large boat like Marine 1 in, no it wouldn't work, but the water is a portion large enough. I don't have a copy on this computer, but there is about 30-40% water if memory serves

The roads would be a tighter squeeze. You could just put one of his cars on an original map, and see what it's like in the lane. If you're comfortable enough with that, then you're set.

Ladder 49 Mod(Baltimore City Fire Dept.)
Newfoundking replied to Alex Neumeister's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
I looked up on how to make important posts a little more visible. 1. Post in the correct forum they're related to 2. Pin it 3. Announce it's important. Yet still, some people see nothing. http://forum.emergency-planet.com/topic/20295-youre-starting-a-mod-read-this-first/ When the OP has some actual product to release, or something more than "I can edit lights, and some scripting, which generally means change Water_Tender in Hoppah's Station Script to Pumper when following tutorials" then I'll look at reopening this topic. For the time being though, I'm closing it -
It depends on your car widths. If you're using the standard models in the game as a base, your roads will be roughly 3/4 the size as if you used larger vehicles, such as NNICO's crown victoria. For the record, the standard game's map floors have a road that's about 134 pixels wide, which is something like 2.5 inches

Have you placed the paths and assigned them appropriately?

What are your resource usage levels at? That could help narrow down the cause -
Edit your em4.cfg file in the main game folder, changing your x_res and y_res values to values that work for you
-
If memory recalls, those games had red on left, blue on right. Appears you have it the other way around.
-
You're going a little backwards. If your intention is to make a full mod, you don't start by learning how to light. That's the absolute last (and generally, easiest) thing to learn/do. http://forum.emergency-planet.com/topic/20295-youre-starting-a-mod-read-this-first/

Do it again, and you'll get a helluva lot worse than public shaming. You'll still get that, but much worse too.

LA Mod 3.5 [CANCELLED]
Newfoundking replied to PaganiZonda760's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
Notice to ALL MEMBERS This mod has currently been taken down for use. Due to various copyright violations, all download links have been removed for the time being. The author of this mod has to develop a new version that follows the rules of the site, and only then will it be reavailable for release. It's important to credit people, otherwise this will happen to you, and much worse. NFK. -
Might wanna watch how you phrase that. I could several model authors credited in the readme, as well as the obvious use of the map and many other components of the LA mod. Yes you reserve the right to withhold any submod releases that alter your game (they can add separate vehicles in a pack similar to itchboy's that can be inserted to your mod and you can't stop that) but as much as the content, a lot (perhaps the majority) of it comes from other authors.
-
And if showcasing them here, you're required to provide proper credits in the showcase, not just readmes.
