  1. It's looking great already... But is this Mod, in the first place, meant to be a multiplayer as well, "just" a singleplayer or maybe even both? I'm asking you, because I'm more of a Singleplayer myself... Cheers!! ? Robert

    Dutch Mod!!!

Okay, I will try to clear the air - the way It all went down... The moment that I first read on the forum that FrozenOne was releasing a beta version of his Dutch Mod, I contacted him by PM on april 7, 2015, telling him how I liked the idea of a Dutch Mod and that I would love to play with it. I also told him that, back in the days, I was a Dutch ambulance driver and (if so wished), I was happy to feed him with my ideas, suggestions and my comments on his mod to have his mod as realistic as can be in its lay out as well as in playing the game. Fortunately FrozenOne was very happy with my contribution to the development of his mod, although it was only on paper, since (as so many times told here before) I am not a modder myself. And although I never met FrozenOne in person, he lived in a completely other part of the country and we never even spoke to each other over the phone, our contact was close - but just through email. And so we made it happen that the Dutch Mod v1.0.0 became upgraded through several updates (v1.0.5, v1.0.6, & v1.1.0) to finally the version where it all ended: v2.0. As we all know, the Dutch mod v2.0.0 unfortunately crashed the moment SixteenTons released its v2.0.2 patch on October 2015. Naturally I talked to FrozenOne about it and as he also stated on the forum (November 4, 2015) that he was working on it and that he thought that it wouldn't be a big issue to solve http://www.emergency-planet.com/topic/20184-nl-modification-v20-released-signal-torch-screenshot/?page=5. However, On November 29, 2015, he posted a message on the forum that because of personal issues he would completely and permanently cancel the Dutch Modification and stop working on "the fix" that so many of us players were desperately waiting for since we all loved playing the Dutch mod. The next couple of weeks I tried to call out to him again on our forum, hoping he would still read our messages, and even tried to contact him on Facebook; but no reply whatsoever. Then I started to call out on the forum for anyone trying to have his Dutch mod working again, but no respond. Then, Ben12 stepped in and posted on the forum that he would trie to have the Dutch mod up and running again. The moment I read his message, I instantly contacted him through PM and offered him my services as well, hoping I could get him interested as well - just as FrozenOne and I joined forces. The Ideas I had for FrozenOne at the time, I now shared them with Ben12 - hoping he could have them all realized. Now, I DO have to plea here in favor of Ben12. For the very simple reason that FrozenOne stated on November 29, that he was not interested in modding anymore, and any contact with either me or the forum was no longer seen since then, it was I who suggested to Ben12 to "claim" the Dutch mod to be taken over by him. NOT as in: "The Dutch mod is my property now" but as in: "I am trying to have the Dutch Mod up and running again and turn it (as he called) into my "BetterEM5" mod which I would like to see as my project. All this, just to have the wonderful Dutch mod work again with the SixteenTon's latest v2.0.2 patch. So that is why Ben12 responded the way he did to Killerconsti; in my view, it had nothing to do with being possessive of any kind. Should Ben12 succeed in his project, I think that all Dutch Mod players would be very pleased - at least I would certainly be one of them! Seeing now, that finally more EM5 mods are being created, it gives me hope that maybe in time our EM5 mods will become just as popular as the also SO wonderful EM4 mods. And should EM5 modders have ideas to join forces, please do! Cheers!! ? Robert.
  4. Good morning William, Maybe you should try to get in contact with Ben12. He's working on the EM5 "Dutch Mod" now and, as far as I know, also having plans for making an American mod for EM5 as well. http://www.emergency-planet.com/topic/21039-bens-mods-new-dutch-mod-betterem5-american-mod/ That really would be my advise to you. Cheers!! ? Robert.
  5. Wow!! Ambition, devotion and enthousiasm... What more could you wish for in a modder?! Go kick some butt!! Cheers!! Robert.
  6. Steven, I am not a modder myself, so I am afraid I cannot help you there. All I do here on the forum is ventilating my ideas and making suggestions towards the real modders and sometimes giving comment whenever I think it is needed. Getting acquainted with the modders through e-mail, like I did at the time with FrozenOne-94, where he then opened up for my tips, suggestions, requests, comments and ideas, resulted in the much appreciated Dutch mod v2.0. Too bad, FrozenOne left the forum and that his mod stopped working after the release of the SixteenTons patch v2.0.2. We're all waiting here for the ONE modder that will succeed in getting this mod up and running again with the for mentioned patch. So, if you have any requests and or suggestions, just ventilate them here on the forum and maybe modders will pick them up. At the moment, I would put my money on Ben12; I know he's eager in releasing his so called "BetterEM5" mod. My expectations, as well as his own, in his succeeding are high. So, just trie to contact him with your ideas, questions and/or requests and keep your fingers crossed... Hope this will answer your question... for now. Cheers!! Robert.
  7. I do love the idea that people would like to see a good mod working for EM5 as well. And it does not matter whether it concerns the city of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago or any city for that matter. I recently understood that our German friends are about to release a "major EM5" mod which they are very proud of and, if I am not mistaken, they would also upload it to this forum in due time. If that happens, maybe it would make the work of our EM5 modders of THIS forum a lot easier since they would not have to reinvent the wheel. But, since I am not a modder myself, what do I know? Cheers!! Robert.
  8. Well luckily, most Dutch know how to handle an English conversation nowadays. So as long as they post their messages on this forum in English as well, I'm sure this forum will go a very long way... Cheers!! Robert.
  9. Please, post your messages in English - so everybody can read them on this ENGLISH forum. Ben would not understand your question - he is American. I do have the NL mod for you. I could upload it to you, through "We transfer". If you want me to send you the file, please send me a PM. Cheers!! Robert.
  10. So I got real close with my "flash" Thanks for your reply. Cheers!! Robert
  11. Hi guys, I am sure your answer to my question will be totally recognizable, as in: "How could I miss that?", but could you please tell me what the abbreviation "WIP" stands for; I often see that written behind Mods. But, as I'm writing you my question now, I just got a "flash"; could it be: "While In Progress" ? Please tell me. Cheers!! Robert.
  12. Hi guys, I am sure your answer to my my question will be totally recognizable, as in: "How could I miss that?", but could you please tell me what the abbreviation "WIP" stands for; I often see that written behind Mods. But right now as I'm writing you my question, I just got a "flash"; could it be: "While In Progress" ? Please tell me. Cheers!! Robert.
  13. Thank you; it makes more sense to me now. In the Netherlands it does not work that way. All ambulances are the same, manned by paramedics; if so needed, assisted by the Fire Brigade when called at the scene as well. Since a few years now, our police units as well as our fire engines are all equipped with an AED. That is because of the fact that the ETA of the ambulance services takes mostly 2 times longer than the ETA of a fire engine or a police unit. That is why nowadays, when a emergency call comes in for e.g. someone suffering from a heart attack, in more and more cities in the Netherlands, the fire brigade is also rushed to the call. I think they picked that idea from you guys in America; however, as far as I know, it is still a pilot - that started last year... Cheers!! Robert.
  14. Hi Guys, Just another question: I'm now playing your wonderful Boston App. Since I'm Dutch and I am not quite familiar with the American Emergency Services, I do have a couple of questions... I've noticed that there are several types of ambulances: Ambulances such as the A1, A2 and A3, parked in the garages, that are manned by "only" firemen and all they can do is take out a fire extinguisher, a backboard and/or an axe from their vehicle. Ambulances to "call in", such as the AMR675 , AMR 676 and/or the Mayberry Fire Ambulances, that are manned by paramedics, carrying a stretcher, and a first aid kit - so a lot more useful (as it seems to me). For me, as a Dutch former Ambulance driver, please explain: No offence, but please explain to me: What's the purpose of using one of the ambulances, parked in the garages, if the men onboard are not in the possession of a firs aid kit, and are not able to transport their victim? That it, so it seems to me... How is this going in American "real life" and/or in Boston itself? Also, how can I implement this in the game? Is it mandatory, when transporting a victim to hospital is needed, to call in a AMR Ambulance or one of the Mayberry Fire Ambulances and leave the "garage" ambulances just being parked there, or am I missing something here? In general: Is there a specific and/or functional difference between the White Mayberry Fire Engines and the Red Mayberry County Fire Engines? How is this in "real life"? And maybe also important for me to know: does my choosing for one of these Fire Engine types, influence my game solutions? Please, make me understand all this. Hope to hear from you soon again. Cheers!! Robert.
  15. Okay guys, I found out where I went wrong. Next to the "Boston Mod", I also downloaded the "Boston Mod Maps Update". I apparently mistook that for the Corona update... Now I downloaded and installed the real "Corona Update"; everything works like a charm now - what a great mod!! Thanks for all your help! Cheers!! Robert!
  16. I will look into it tonight, because I'm working till 23:00 PM (GMT). I DO think however that I acted according the instructions, but surely I will do as you just mentioned. If you are familiar with the content of the downloaded Corona map (the update so to speak), you must know there are also two maps inside the Corona map. I forgot their names, but I think it was something like TEC...?? Do you recognize what I am talking about? If so, do you also know where to install those two maps specifically or the content of those maps? Robert.
  17. Thank you for your swift reply. After having stopped playing EM4 for some time now, since the ending of the LA-Mod, I recently began in picking it up again with several new mods now. Just this morning I stumbled on the Boston Mod and downloaded it, along with the Corona update: http://www.moddb.com/mods/mayberry-mod-2014/addons/corona-update. So, it strikes me that I apparently already worked with the solution of my problem. As instructed, I copied the content of the map into the "Corona" map but, in regard of your reply, I now think something might have gone wrong there... Is there something you can tell me what I really must or specifically must NOT do to make things work again? I hope you can help me out here. Besides, what I've seen about the MOD already: it is really great!! Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you. Robert.
  18. He just said one post ago, the link will be updated soon...... Hi there, I am not quite sure if "the crashing" of the mod, as described above, is similar to my issue as described below. So if you are already familiar with it, I appologize. If not, then here's what happens: The emergency lights (when activated) of all the emergency vehicles parked in the garages, are showing just white "square" flashes - also while driving. I tried calling in a fire engine ("in the area") but it also appeared with the same white "square" flashes. Also, the same happens to the emergency vehicle that was parked near the hospital; once the emergency lights were activated, it was just showing white "square" flashes. However, the activated emergency lights of the ambulance parked next to the aforementioned emergency vehicle, and an ambulance "in the area" I called in, were accurate. In short: I think there is (also?) a glitch in your Mod concerning the emergency lights of probably most of your emergency vehicles - as far as I know... I hope you can take ik out with a wishfully very soon future update. Hope to hear from you soon. Cheers!! Robert, Netherlands.
  19. So, maybe it's just wishful thinking, but are you saying now that you and/or your team, are willing to give it a try - or better yet, make it happen??
  20. Okay! You've played the Dutch mod as well - I'm glad you liked it. Did you, by any chance, also succeed in playing the game after the new Sixteen Tons software update 2.0.2? If so, could you please help us out here? I'm sure you've read on our forum that the Dutch mod stopped working after the coming out of EM2016 and ST's software update 2.0.2, which also badly influenced EM5. From this moment on, we cannot play the Dutch mod anymore in any of both games. And we are all longing for a "fix" that makes the mod work again. But since FrozenOne left the forum (because of personal issues) he never uploaded us the "repair-fix". And, considering the state he seemed to be in at the time, I don't think he ever felt like making a "mod fix" at all. So now, we're all stuck here and are hoping for someone who is able to get the Dutch Mod up and running again. Just to be played again and nothing more... I don't know if it is technically possible for anybody, other then the mod creator himself, to have the mod repaired, should the mod have a password or something... But, if you or any member of your team, is able and/or willing to repair the Dutch mod, we would be in debt forever... Hope to hear from you soon. Cheers!! Robert.
  21. Thank you Godra, for your swift reply. So I DO think now, we should really be looking forward to your German mod (in English language) as well. Are we talking weeks from now or maybe still even months? Will you be posting this mod on THIS forum as well? Mind you, many of our players here are probably not familiar with the German language. So, for that reason, I don't think they'd ever consider to visit your forum with either sharing problems, ideas, questions or suggestions. And that seems to be a real pity now... However, speaking in a personal capacity now - and hoping that I won't get shot over this , I think that it would be much appreciated by our forum members, if you'd be so kind in keeping us posted with your developments and are also willing to share your mods (in English?) through our forum as well. After all, we all have the same goal: developing and playing a great EM5/EM2016 mod! As you apparently are in (closer?) contact with the German developer of the game, than any of us here on our forum (I presume), would it be an option and/or possibillity for you to have our problem of "the aerial ladder behavior" being placed on their table? BTW: are you familiar with the Dutch Mod, have you ever played it? Please, keep in touch! Looking forward to your reply. Cheers!! Robert.
  22. Well, If I might make you a few humble but most sincere suggestions for your mod: As you read in my former reply, I stated that FrozenOne and I have done a lot of things to make the Dutch Mod look as professional as can be. For instance: one of the most disturbing things for me in the original German EM5/EM2016-games, is the fact that you can see that when firemen take their hoses from their fire engines (the one who mostly first arrive at the scenes), they then run around “half the city” in order to find a hydrant to attach their hoses to. To me, in view of our own Dutch Fire Department, this procedure never made any sense. And so I asked FrozenOne, regarding his Dutch mod, if it would be possible for him to have the firemen FIRST attach their hoses to their fire engines (they carry water tanks - for goodness sake ), before have them running around the city while searching for a hydrant. FrozenOne made this happen – a much more realistic view now of course. However, I don’t know how it works with the German Fire Department; whether those fire engines (arriving first at scene) also carry their own water tanks or not. My advice/suggestion to you German modders for a more realistic look is clearly the following: if the German fire engines DO carry their own water tanks, have your fireman FIRST attach their hoses to their fire engines instead of having them start running around with their hoses in search for a hydrant. I know that in the Sixteen Tons software update (2.0.2.), the developer of the game finally made this happen but only with the Water Tenders. And while we’re at it: In my early days at the forum, I made the following suggestion: When the fire tender is using its extinguisher on its roof, you'll notice that, when pointing out another fire with your mouse, the water canon is automatically turning towards the fire without letting the fire tender changing its position, provided the fire to be extinguished, is in its reach. The turntable ladder should actually do the same thing (at least in real life that is): turning its water canon on the ladder towards the fire source once pointed out. However, for each different fire you point out, other than the one that is being extinguished with its water canon at that very moment, the turntable ladder lowers its ladder and the fire engine is to be repositioned completely, rising its ladder again and then continuing putting out the fire. It's not realistic AND it's losing time putting out a fire. Is this an idea for the mod as well: to let the turntable ladder putting out fires pointed to, without the need to be re-positioning itself all the time? Looking forward to your reply. Cheers!! Robert
  23. Hey Bill, We may now finally get lucky! Recently Ben12 started posting on our forum, stating that he als was into modding EM5 and wanted to pick up the Dutch mod where FrozenOne left off. He was already working on a (or the?) mod as we speak. I contacted him through PM and there I learned that he was eager, passionate and convincing. Nevertheless, he also was modest since he declared that a lot of things about modding (EM5?) yet, were for him still to find out how; but still... As I stated here many times already, I am no modder at all - I'm just a player. And just like FrozenOne, I am Dutch. Since I got some "emergency experience" on being an ambulance driver (back in my days), I contacted FrozenOne by PM at the time, the moment he posted that he was working on a Dutch mod. I was triggered and so I suggested him to help him out with tips, ideas, advises, comments and suggestion while he was developing his mod and. I also offered him to test and look at his mod before he would upload his Mod to the forum - all this, just to make the Dutch mod as realistic as possible. FrozenOne was happy wit my help during all this time; I was glad (but also a little bit proud) when I noticed he was sometimes willing, when technically possible, to implement my ideas into the Dutch mod. Well, you are familiar with the result: the mod was just great! Mind you however, all the credits go to FrozenOne as being the developer of the Dutch mod; I was only a small part of his thinktank... As I said, I also contacted Ben12 through PM the moment at he time, as he stated he would be working on the Dutch mod as well. He is also willing to accept my help so I'm sure that shortly, we'll be a team... Since you are very eager in developing EM-Mods as well, and I believe that Ben12 stated on the forum that he would like to cooperate with other forum members to combine forces and share each others knowledge, maybe you should contact him as well; - after all, he is American, just like you... Well, for what ith worth... but, will you please keep me posted? Cheers!! Robert
