  1. I don't think they use the larger ambulances based on the heavier duty trucks in LA, but it is possible they do, I am not entirely sure though.... You see a great deal of the larger International and Freightliner Ambulances on the East coast quite commonly today.
  2. Enjoy spending time in legal aid apparently? International law is worse than american laws my friend, I'd study up if I were you before I go assuming all places are a 1/1 of american law... I'm not sure their home nations work like the US model exactly.... Aside from that you are bringing up CORPORATE law, not private sector intellectual property rights, which generally would be the closest applicable thing here.
  3. Federal Signal Jetsonic is the older bar on that fire engine.... Federal Signal also did the Aerodynic bar, the one that essentially looks like a round tube of glass with rotators inside it, similar to the Jet just taller and no speaker attatchment, the speaker was integrated in the middle of the bar.... They were generally popular during the late 80's early 90's.

  5. =) I am finally done, a good 35 minutes of my life I won't be getting back... thanks for that... Either get back onto the Best Furrfighter contest topic or just stop posting about this, this should NEVER have became about the chubby state of a nation, the end result would never have came out positive.... common sense tells ya people are touchy.... Whether this was or is about nation vs. nation does not matter to me, in the end SOCIETIES are overweight, not just one profession, if you try to prevent people due to an unreasonable reason in america from doing said job, you get a warm call from the ACLU.... You can't forbid people from doing things due to things that are not a DIRECT threat to their ability to do a certain job.... It is simply not worth it to fight the court battles you will certainly get, and since it is a trend across most first world nations to live less healthy and exercise less, many nations including the USA are seeing increased rates in unhealthy living... Generally firemen, young or old across all borders try to take the best care of themselves and I personally believe that a contest between the world's firefighters could be fun to watch, I loved going to the Best US Ranger competitions... Taught them teamwork and it was a friendly competition that pushed them to their limits, not a bad thing to be challenged regardless of one's field.
  6. Pipe down everyone lest I make ya'll run laps around the track...... This is meant to be a friendly board and it will be that way or I toss warning at everyone that said anything inflamitory, even if it was justified in my or anyone else's opinion..... Play nice or don't play at all, frankly I don't care if you're 200 pounds or 600 pounds if you can still do your job do it.... Grow up and be mature don't just play stupid games of who's the most patriotic here because they defend something or someone. Everyone has a right to an opinion and you may discuss it, turning it into a flaming contest is a great way to make it so nobody gets to have anymore fun. Now I get the joy of editing 20 post, thanks guys!
  7. The only other potential problem has to do with the ramp it's self, generally we use land base floor to fake road so it's a "level" terrain transfer.... the main problems lie in the units you control and whether or not they will willingly jump onto the highway, a road without sufficient pathing especially a model instead of floor texture and you'll see odd behavior especially if you try to break their routing over it mid-transfer.... For example, the la bridge before pathing was established the trucks wanted to do odd things on it, drive backwards, turn into the curb etc if you aborted their path they created initially and made them do a 180 for example to a short distance behind them.... A true elevated on-offramp system would have problems in this aspect. If you omitted traffic on the offramps it would make the path clear but not necessarilly the prefered route for emergency vehicles... They may decide that it is more effective to stay on the surface and you'd have to manually get them onto the highway before they would follow it, even then IF it was a cross-path with a ground path it might try to follow the ground path instead. The problem lies in that emergency vehicles just use the paths as a guide, in the end they follow the ideal route they have open to them, hopping paths as necessary. You can build a section of highway that includes the overpass/underpass configuration, I would suggest doing it for an overpass then a length of road that curves as it would on a turn then goes straight for a bit and hits another offramp, hook these sections to the map by a ground terrain elevation so you can easilly hop on, toss on some paths and basically just play with the traffic/emergency vehicles on the map section and see if everything behaves as it should, traffic will stay on their assigned paths, emergency vehicles may try to shortcut.... Goodluck
  8. In short, yes it is possible, but beyond difficult, your primary problem would be your vehicles, not the traffic cars.... you can dictate to them to stay on a specific path, however, the problemo comes when you try to merge them into normal surface traffic.... You set the speed by path not by road so you'd have to create the "illusion" cars get on and off the highway and have them not really do so unfortunately.... Otherwise you'll have hwy cars stack behind surface cars. The spawn points must be placed PERFECTLY, if one is too high/too close to a non transitable object it will get jammed up. IF You try this you have to be willing to devote tons of time to troubleshoot thousands of problems that will result on this road. Even without events on it, you will have a tough road ahead of you but yeap you can theoretically do it with rediculous patience. As far as how your vehicles behave around it I am not entirely sure what they would do, but generally I doubt anyone would be so stupid as to leave a vehicle on an overpass/underpass then try to move them..... eventually it should solve it's pathing I'd think.
  9. I use Z-Mod 1, the older brother of Z2, it is less glitchy and generally faster for me to use.... There are side effects to importing files made in Z1 into Z2, but generally as long as you remember how to undo it, it is not too painful.
  10. Some vehicles are universal vehicle types, the Ford Crown Victoria is a good example, the current one is generally accepted as the prefered vehicle to use since it is fine as it is, which is why Hoppah borrowed it from someone else. What he means in simple terms is sharing models sometimes because they already suit the purpose you need is fine if you're going to put in the effort on your own to create some of the other things you will need. It is far easier to have other people do the majority of the work for you in modding a game like this and slap on a new paint scheme than it is to take the time and effort to create the models you require, which takes an unreal effort on your part. People are specialists generally, some can model, some can script, some can skin, but if you're just a skinner chances are you will have a tough time finding models to use for "your" mod because unfortunately, those of you who do not model have no idea how long you can waste creating a single usable model. A full completed model requires a skin, model, AND UV map, all of which takes time yes, but building a model and UV mapping the skin onto it takes the most time of all. Putting the model into a prototype is probrably the easiest task of all the things you have to do really... What is generally wanted is that people at least try to create their own things and try to learn how to modify themselves rather than rely on everyone else's efforts to build comprehensive mods. Others put in their time to learn how to do things and I believe most people feel other's could take the time to attempt to do the same efforts they have. Some things not everyone can do, and that is fine... I will NEVER be a scripter, it is beyond my abilities to grasp all of that, but that only has a single way to go about it in order to make it work.... With modeling, UV mapping, skinning there are tons of various programs that you can work with that you might find more accomodating than Z2. I do not use Z2 to do my primary modeling because I find another app to be more accessable and faster for me than Z2 is, for Hoppah he prefers Z2 because it's what he understands and knows, it is not that hard to import files and adjust them as necessary should the import process be hampered by the program(s).
  11. You need to definately work on your ability to keep things straight with what you have people do for you, you got two of us to do the same truck so now I have a purty model that I can keep, so thanks fer that..... SOCOM here's pictures of mine so you can see what I mean about giving us both the same work... I didn't do the details yet but you can see they would have been the same truck in the end
  12. If I recall correctly there are specific settings you must use for the TGA format in order for it to take, one of which is 24 bit I believe.....
  13. Somehow I lost the model but managed to keep the images from it from wayyyy back when I built this, this was some odd 5-7 years ago matter of fact (2004 according to the telltale timestamp).... SD-40 Choo Choo of dah Union Pacific that I never really had any use for doing, just something different to try.
  14. Under 2GB you're pushing your luck, especially with the ill-fated vista, that will cost you one gig off the bat.... Generally I'd suggest you have 2-3 gigs free to do this operation, these map files for a single layer come in over 200 mb in proper format... so imagine how much pressure that puts on your computer. If you use layers and edit a great deal at once it quickly consumes resources for the temporary backups so you can UNDO actions, etc.... Generally if you are patient you can do it with under the 2 gigs available but it gets extremely frustrating fast as more crap gets added.... Welcome to the world of modding without a great deal of memory for extremely consuming things you can easilly burn through the memory then it just moves slower than a snail.... I have NEVER ran out of memory to the point of crashing an application (yet). One project I did had a grille on it that was 50,000 polygons=) I wasnt paying attention and just overdid it for a diff game, and yeah that effectively killed my computer...
  15. You require a decent photo/texture editor (psp, photoshop, even gimp can do it barely)... a map of 8192x8192 fits exactly on that size in the boundaries. Save file as TGA to import the file into the game.. Doing these textures takes a great deal of resources so if you have a computer with very limited processor and ram I suggest you do not attempt to do this unless you have extremely high patience. good luck.
  16. Ya'll guessed why I went through the effort of making all the details inside=( I figured it would make the event more challenging to have to address a great deal of burning objects within the structure rather than just pull up and hit the pumps.
  17. Yeah sorry bud, I mis-interpreted what ya were trying to do, there are two types of axis settings... Unfortunately I thought you meant the other one, not the editor open radius values.... Unfortuantely we usually get the joy of guessing sometimes and this time I guessed wrong=(
  18. Ya'll are probrably too young to remember the good old days when gas was reasonable enough you didn't have to sell your soul to the station to get it.... But it was either that or I was going to do the price as ARM LEG EYE
  19. Here is the finished gas station, Hoppah can deal with adding it to the game because frankly, I'm lazy and it's the weekend as far as I'm concerned, he can go thru the nightmare. I tried for a bit and got tired of it, so yeah here is the gas station. *edit, roof isnt blotched like that... wonderful thank you to capture tool and JPG format for making it nice and blotchy
  20. The axis is set IN the model file not in the prototype.
  21. the general problemo that I see with this (which I prefer over the rediculously oversized flatbed type carriers) is that it would NOT want to back up correctly, the trailer would try to turn I think as the truck tried to drop... so I don't know if it would agree with that.
  22. to the forums, glad you sorted out your problem in the future do me a favor and use the EDIT button that is at the bottom right of any post you create so that you don't have to post two times in a row.
  23. Ignore the childish banter, that's for Hoppah Right now we are far too busy with all the other things we have to do and believe me it's an ungodly pile of work that we have to do to try to make every little thing work. Picture working on something where you add some things and you run even odds of the things you add causing problems somewhere else, that'd be the types of problems we have to try to resolve.... Takes a great deal of time unfortunately.... There are things I would like to play with attempting, but right now I simply have no time to try to work on those things=(
