Stan reinstated the position upon my return, considering I just got my computer back (I love this computer) but I hate updating/restoring it to what I loved about it... Yeah IDK when/if I'll fall back into modding but hopefully I will because I did actually enjoy it.

Yeap, I'm alive, apparently not a moderator anymore but hey I've been gone for over what now? 6 months? Oh well, Just figured I'd rop a line, however I do not know if/when I will resume modding this game since I have to essentially rebuild my computer back the way it was in order to actually mod anymore... Just figured I'd drop a line... Hopefully I remember all my passwords I've not used=(

Technically speaking, people should just use common sense and update their topics when they have something to update with. They should not run around posting in topics to just bump a thread up, there is no use in doing that. By Update I mean an actual update, not I will update the topic in a few days or something of the like, unless someone specifically ASKS for said update there is no reason to be wasting the time putting in a post. Now I think we can move on off of that since it is no longer an issue.

Emergency 3 Direct2Drive US Download version of Emergency 3
MikeyPI replied to a topic in General Help
I will install the game on this computer since this has 64 Vista and tell you how to fix it specifically for this version of the operating system, I was trying to avoid having to install the game since I rarely play it ever anymore=) EDIT: For the lazy or not so computer literate I have created the registry fixes for Vista 32-bit and 64-bit. Download Center Direct-Link -
Skinning Start-up Faq. You need to be at least marginally familiar with a paint application to do a decent job, to open the DDS files if they are not locked files anymore just use either the plug-in that comes with PSP or alternatively one of many DDS converters.

All the F-series are nearly identical with the exception of the newest generation, anything from the previous generations outwardly looks practically identical so using a 350 picture/blueprint works fine. The only differences tend to be the grille/bumper colors but generally the stock packages are the same with diff trim accents.

PM me the model files for the vehicle (door and body)... Just the V3O's I should not require anything more than that, I will go through and use all my apps to try to see if I can't repair it for you. Rarely are you lucky and able to totally fix it, but perhaps you'll get lucky since the shape of the old cars is pretty straightforward it should be doable.

Emergency 3 Direct2Drive US Download version of Emergency 3

Get it out of program files, it does not belong there as it does not support the 64 bit features, (x86) is for 32 bit apps, put it in there and ensure that when you edit the registry you are editing the correct values, not the ones that are probrably still there from your previous attempt... The registry is usually kept when you manually tamper with it. Uninstall the game completely and reinstall in the default location should be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Strategy First\Emergency 3\". Some things depending on how you installed it will be found in one of two locations under vista: Current User in the registry (software) if you've just installed for yourself only. Local Machine for things that are for all users (software again). Ensure you are looking under Current User since that is probrably where it is being put at, not under local machine. -

Vista 64 bit installs games like EM3 to Program Files (x86) so you need to find the location accordingly. If that is your OS version, that is. -
The normals were calculated for the door AFTER it was spliced from the body, thus the normals are set for the door-only, not the whole body flow of the vehicle, this would be why it is best to do the normals calculation PRIOR to cutting the vehicle open. If you do it later some apps support recalculation that won't wreck the shading, but generally they tend to abruptly change at any break (such as a door). I've learned to use zmod to calc before I cut and not to touch the body parts once that is done, it generally seems to prevent that.

Topic Pinned since a beta was released.

Don't post repeatedly in a row for no reason, if you have an update post it... If there is no update then leave your topic be, posting 20 posts in a line do not encourage enthusiasm for your modification.

Try this bud: Edit lights like you normally would, do these settings: Radiation Checked Corona Checked If you use polygon glow it ONLY shows at night, it will not show at all or barely during the day, to augment that use a corona set to a low value like 5 and it'll glow during the day. Visibility: check always Blue Light for type Goto time in the map properties if you want to make it darker, during the day to see ALL lights, place the vehicle on the map then ya need to go ahead and click the lights button at the bottom right, click it until it says "Lights On" Remember to place the vehicle on the map befor you hit that button, if you place the vehicle you have to re-click the button till it says on again then the lights will show up (all of them). When you just place a vehicle on the ground most the time the lights won't work in the editor until the setting is "refreshed" by swapping to it like I described. hopefully this will help ya out. Truck looks quite nice in the game=)

Chances are you're close to your capacity for Attatchments on the forum, go through and Delete some of the old ones that you don't really need anymore... My Controls> Options> Manage My Attatchments or something like that, it will tell you what of what size you've used, so if you're close to 100% of what you're allowed you know tis time to dump some of the old junk. File attatchments add up fairly fast and I'd bet you're using close to the limit.

Like I said, your pivot is off, your using Z2 which has the pivot axis point as an L instead of an X... What you need to do is to Display> Local Axis> Reset to Parent.. That should put the pivot in the center of the vehicle, then turn on selected mode (it's at the bottom of Z2) go into vertice mode for editing, and select all vertices of the truck and move the vehicle up in vertice mode until the _ portion of the L shape is about where the wheel would be in the game, this should resolve your problem. See the Circled Pink areas for where your pivot currently is on your vehicle.
-
Try Display> Local Axes> Reset to World (click on model) save/export model, if that doesnt do it, reset to parent... Generally I do both before I center the axis just in case one of them is incorrect... sometimes that will cause a vehicle to not move correctly.
-
Your pivot is probrably in the body (the axis location) See Attatched Picture: Orangish Line> How you align the axis to the vehicle, use the wheel for the vehicle as a gauge as to where it should sit in relation to the road/ground. Green Circle> Where the axis belongs. Pink Circle> Probrably where your axis currently is. Edit>Picture Removed: Don't like to leave attatchments laying around.

You know the name of it, otherwise how did you find the picture which was uploaded to the site that just so happens to be linked in the topic which you "don't know" the name of the said mod. Wow that was hard to figure out, I honestly don't know how I did it. Obviously, I think the name of the SUBMOD says enough right there, if you'd like I can underline it, but there is no real reason... Someone did a Florida mod for their own personal uses, and it will NOT be released. You are lucky I don't warn you for wasting people's time and for cluttering up a forum with a totally useless topic. And your topic is getting closed btw.

Select> Quadrant (Selected Mode) ON Select em and press Delete.... Export Lightbar as V3O or 3DS and then close out zmod and load your model you want to add the part to.. Make sure you re-assign the UV map to the new vehicle's texture (along with copying the lightbar texture from the old model's texture to the new)...
-
Nope, there is no need to make a new topic, what you can do is just change the description of the existing topic instead of adding another topic to the mess.
-
Your model looks a bit too elaborate, you will probrably want to merge away some of those polygons, EM4/FR does not work too well with overly complicated models, remember it has to load everything that is on the map so every polygon adds to the load on a computer. The roof in particular is a place you can clip away a good deal of polygons without the model getting damaged in the process. As for the other part, welcome to Digital Rights Management and all it's stupidity.
-
Generally Speaking the coronas don't push too much in rendering, they have no real elaborate rendering necessary. Where you run into problems is the ground glowing texture that is under the vehicle I believe it's called "fake glow" or something of the sort, the thing that makes the ground/vehicle light up when a light is lit will put a great deal of stress on a computer's hardware since it is dynamic in it's rendering method. Polygon lights should not be too terrible but too many of them might be. Overall if you're at around 50 or so you should be ok, in reality most police cars should not need more than that anyway... Testing is how you will know for sure, do not just get the supercomputers of the forum to test, someone like myself can take a great deal before it will show, make sure you always have mid range (your target lot) the high end supercomputers and the low end older systems testing for you. If there is a script/process that causes problems it should be detected by one of the three configurations.

Be patient, don't double/triple post, if you have not noticed there are already a ton of mods that have taken most the people who can do things.... So you have to just wait or try to recruit people through other techniques, advertising a mod that you have no idea where will go with no direction is not really going to be the most productive measure.

Please post things in the correct forums, this isnt EM4 modding/help

Vehicle Staffing-Adding Personnel when the Alarm is Raised
MikeyPI replied to a topic in Alteration Help
That would be vista's security working against you. Two ways will take you around it: 1).temporarilly copy the file in question to somewhere outside of program files (like to your desktop) 2).If you modify files in these folders frequently the better option would be to change their priveledges. To do this right click on the LA Mod folder Pick: Properties Under the Security Tab: You will see a list of users who are authorized in various ways, select "EDIT" In the list you want to find users, this would be what your login account is counted as. Enable Full control by checking the box next to it, press OK and you should now be permitted to alter these files without being blocked anymore. Hopefully this helps you.
