A proper copy of the game will not have this issue, what usually causes this is that the files were modded by the user incorrectly, uninstallation+deletion of the folders that remain behind is required, uninstallation removes most things but sometimes it does not get everything, so manually browse to the install directory and remove the EM4 folder manually as well. Reinstall it, assuming it's a legit copy it should work correctly.

Users who have tried to modify files such as the config file, or scripts and such have ran into problems saving, this is because of UAC which is present in Vista and in win 7, here are two options to get around that protection (this is why you install a program you get the run as administrator pop-up). Win Vista/7 Have User Account control protection over program files by default, the easiest way around this is to temporarilly copy the file you wish to change to the desktop, edit it, save it, then copy and paste it back into the proper folder where it came from.. Alternatively disable UAC if you change files alot, or just give all users full control over the EM4 folders by right clicking properties on the folder it's self, under the security tab edit permissions and give USERS full control, then press ok. Please note, in order for the EDITOR to be able to save to UAC protected EM folders it must be ran as an administrator, if you do not remove the UAC protection on EM4 all together.

There is no rule that says the vehicles must spawn on the map at startup, they can easilly be called from off-map then parked somewhere, you just need to make scripts with player associations instead of the original scripts which are EXPLICITLY designed for SP, they do not know which user to assign which thing to. the condition just has to be made to be player-related as well as vehicle related.

The textures are not really the problem, the problem is for the most part our models are EXTREMELY light, most do not have interiors (which GTA uses) so the models are the hurdle not so much the textures... You can always upgrade a skin, but the model you need to know your way around to make it work well in GTA... Our models just were not intended for such a purpose.

Could it be done? Probrably. Would it look good? Not at all, EM4 poly count is so low and the view is a different view in EM vs GTA so that the models would not look very good once put into a more visually enhanced game such as gta.

Start with reskins, the site has tutorials that can help you rather well with finding the tools, as far as learning most of them go, there are tutorials for them but when you're new you do best to just tinker with the applications and figure out how they work on their own more often than not. Building new models has a STEEP learning curve unless you use sketchup, but even then it'll still need Zmod2 to FIX the model so that it may work in the game. Most modeling apps have extremely steep learning curves, even with tutorials it will be a major investment of your time and energy to figure it out. Reskins on the other hand you can get results pretty fast/easy which makes it less frustrating, and considering that models need textures anyway, reskinning first helps you out should you advance to the modeling end. Try modeling solo, Nnico builds his own models on his own time, updates when you're the SOUL modeler making things from scratch takes forever.. I'm building a mod in quiet explicitly so I can work at my own pace and not be BOTHERED by whens this any updates and all that... Because I am solo in building every single new model it needs I have to A. Find the time, B. want to take the time, and C. Complete it on my own.. Nnico shares a similar fate.. Patience is all we ask, we get boredum, but you also could afford to think about it from our perspective. Reskins=easy, New models from scratch=ton of work. I am betting when he announced the QRA mod he already did a great deal of work to those models, which gives the impression that the process is faster/easier than it is. That is what we'd like people to take into account, it's one thing if a topic is "dead" but most the time it's simply that nothing has changed of note, so why spam a topic with things when there's really nothing to say at that particular time about it's progress, it's why most of us don't post "updates" constantly regarding the mod.

Since nobody can read and get off the topic in question, nor take it to PM... Dyson wasnt even commenting about me directly with most of his statement... He just forgot about paragraphs, seems nobody can read well enough to understand that though.... @ Max there, You took FULL credit for building the express in the DC mod, you never once mentioned the real author once so don't even try to compare apples to oranges on that one... Dyson's case is VASTLY different than yours, take the time to make a model instead of just removing parts from one and claiming it's yours and then you'll have an idea.. @ Dyson the reason why the credits go into the Readme is pretty simple, Say for example someone gets your Submod, they decide they want to mod it for release, they will go under the assumption Hoppah made the core of it, then you modded on top of it, thus the proper credits of whom did what are completely lost, such is why it is asked to properly credit people in the README instead of just in the topic, because very quickly who did what goes out the window... Moderator related: IF someone wishes to comment further, feel free to do so IN PM ONLY, IF another post appears in response to this I will just toss 2 day suspensions for it rather than writing again.

My turn to comment, the submods are exempt from asking permission to use all the toys, and well let's face it I built more of em' for the LA mod than ya'll realize but whatever... However, they either must leave the ORIGINAL LAMOD readme in tact or indeed credit all of us that helped to create the LA mod into what it is. Love it or leave it, NFK was correct in bringing up this oversight, as how would you or your team feel Dyson if you were improperly credited along the way in the creation of a submod for your mod, if they just went ehh I'll credit Hoop b/c he made the bigger mod.... You and I both know that would not be fair, it's a simple fix of adding the "credits" from the original LA mod readme into yours, indeed a pain in the tailpipe to reupload but I somehow believe you would feel it is more than fair to do so given the time you spent on this submod if someone did the same to you.. To those who question our priveledges... As Staff we can ask in private or PM for such things, it's our own judgement to opt where we'll do so, but in the end to prevent further BS from someone doing the same friggin thing over again, it is EASIER to just point it out in public. It is not Dyson's fault as it is not clearly stated, though one would hope that in wanting credit for their efforts they would in turn show the same faith upon others. Elas ends my comments on this whole affair, anyone wishes to respond to this, feel free to do so by PM, however if you do it in this topic beware of the banhammer.

We the modders have lives outside of modding, we'd rather live alittle too since modding takes time, it's a hobby for us, start paying us all a salary then we'll work faster than our own pace... Till then we work how/when/why we want to... Modding takes too long to sit there and use ALL your spare time doing it. Sorry but that's the way it is... Learn alil bit of patience.

Not really no, "easy" is all in the eye of the beholder, each one of us use varying applications, some are expensive, some are cheap, in the end their level of difficult depends merely on familiarity with the application. There really is not an exact science to making models... Pretty much everyone has their own techniques they've learned to do which work for them, might not necessarilly work for the next one in line. I suggest you take the time to attempt to become familiar with the application(s) before you pass judgement on them being "too difficult" to use.. Most of it is just terminology for the actual functions which most of our apps share in common... I can use my apps, but some of the ones other people use are beyond my scope merely because I don't know what the functions are in that particular app. Take the time to get familiar, see if you can use it, then decide... Don't just open and go this is like an alien language and close it, you'll never really even get the chance to learn.. Besides that, you STILL would require Z2 skills even if you were to use Sketchup though that particular app is not recommended b/c of what happens to the models.

I moved your topic... just because your group is "multiplayer" doesnt mean that the topic content it's self is. It belonged in Modding & Mod Help. Goodluck making your own map, it will take a good 3 months to do from start to finish with a group working at it... Pathing issues are amplified in MP due to synch issues related to latency. Less is more is the only tip I can give you.

If you are using a default LA mod vehicle as the model of it with your own skin you must name the skin you're using as the same thing that the LA mod model had for it's texture(s) names... Alternatively, open the V3O in notepad, find the following line(s) and manually change them to match your vehicle's skins. SRF, Body, 0, 0, 0, ladder01.dds, 517, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 SRF, Body2, 0, 0, 0, ladder012.dds, 517, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 SRF, Body3, 0, 0, 0, ladder013.dds, 517, 2, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 NOTE: not all vehicles will have as many textures, some may only have one either way the SRF lines are how the model is assigned the texture file(s). Simply change ladder01.dds to match your textures name.

The first one is usable for making a model directly, the other three are more "reference" pictures to help with finalizing the shape, to build a new model ideal circumstances would be a front picture, a rear picture, and a side picture, if they are to scale 1/1 that's perfect if not you'll have to tamper with the scale later... It isnt a big deal, offset pictures are good for tweaking the final shape IE bumpers and such, but they're no good for actually building the model since you'll be building from either the SIDE TOP or FRONT/REAR views of the model.

In theory anything that can export to 3Ds format should be usable in Zmod, however they probrably will require tweaking once imported into Z2.. Sketchup is in no way really designed to be used for games, particularly Emergency, easy as it may be to use the software Zmod and it do not get along very well due to the excessive polys sketchup models become once converted, and the total disarray of said polygons once imported usually doesnt look the best in the game. Your best bet is to use Z2 if you're new to models because once you get over the learning curve Zmod isnt too harsh to use, alternatively look up Zmod 1.07, it is an older version of Zmod that some people find easier to work with which can be used to create models if you reset the axis once imported into Z2.
