Unless you've got previous experience with modeling apps, it's almost impossible to explain in detail how to create a model from scratch... Most of the people here either use 3D studios Max, Sketchup, or Zmod 2 to make their models... The prefered app is Zmod2 since it is REQUIRED to export the model into the correct format which this game uses (v3o). There are tutorials on the zmod site I believe along with checking youtube for how to use the applications fairly well I believe.... In the end everyone has their own style and method to doing their models so it's more just alot of time and patience to learn the program, then learning your own technique that works for you to create models.

Modify on the toolbar that runs to the side of the application> Attatch Click on the object you want to attatch to the other first, IE a door that you don't need click on that a line will draw from it with an arrow on the end, the arrow end goes to the object you want to attatch it to (ie the primary body model). This proceedure must be done in Object mode (top toolbar a solid box [with red lines on it all around it and \ through it] button should be selected, it is pressed by default).

Open the V3O if all the parts are separated as they should be: *makes an example Excursion (main body model) Excursion_door01 Excursion_door02 Excursion_wheel01 then all you need to do is go up to the export button on the taskbar up top (the lil red file) there is a DOWN arrow to the right of it, click that and you will see "multiple export" in the options, that's what you want. Pop-up appears asking where you want to dump the file(s) to (I pick desktop easier to retrieve them) Pick V3O for the filter and press EXPORT It's alot easier to do it this way it will create a V3O for each object in the zmod file instead of manually exporting each file and having to manually name it exactly as the object was named in zmod, if you don't do that zmod won't export correctly... Multi-Export it automatically does this for you.

Downgrade your video card drivers, it is possible that the current version of your drivers support something the game doesnt.. If you have codec packs installed, some of them will interfere with the game running without a DX diag and Logfile we can't even begin to guess wtf is wrong. -
generally speaking modelers tend to also do the UV mapping, being the guy who made the model it is easier for you to know what is supposed to be mapped to what.... Having a second person UV map the model generally isnt the wisest of choices, but there are some exceptions. Most the time you could believe something is for example part of a window when in reality it is but a trim piece, likewise the headlight and grille assemblies, things like that do not usually end up mapped with the body it's self... Making the model you're the one who's going to know what polys are to what.

The ladder and it has the ability to spray without a hose being required... It has to have a cannon component for the original ladder structure to work. I just tried it, and apparently yeah a guy with a hose can indeed go onto a ladder but his hose is inactive while he is on the ladder, kinda odd they let you do that my guess is to fight interior fires on the 2nd floor instead of using a fire extinguisher... To attatch a hose to a truck on the other hand I think people have done it in other mods for engines so I can't see a reason that would not work through scripting to have to attatch it.... *EDIT* yeah he can't enter the building with the hose, apparently that is a major bug in the ORIGINAL game mechanisms, for laughs try to disconnect the hose while on the ladder, wait for him to stop going nuts, and he is on the ladder but the truck can be undeployed and moved, the ladder is still extended with him on top of it=)

Hate me=) but I wanted to go my own way on this entry=) jpg i dun like wastin space w/ HQ pics so boo hoo, truck is prettier than the capture tool of winblows gives it credit i hate that international cab whoever deisnged it should be shot.

in the americas the ones that have a sprayable tub on the end usually have an extendable boom that has under each segment a section of pipe, the truck it's self is hooked into the feed not a hose that is then ran up the boom... that's how we do things personally i don't see how running a hose up from ground level with water in it to a basket or a ladder unless you ran it up the ladder it's self would be safe... water weighs alot fast and a hose danglin off a ladder just seems dangerous to me. it'd require scripting to cause such an effect that imo just isnt justified for the effort required you have to basically make the vehicle become the FF instead of the dude that was carrying it so the hose *attaches* to it.

mid-mount refers to a ladder w/ the basket/whatever positioned in the middle of the truck extending off the rear of the vehicle.. theoretically possible but complicated to implement, positioning the vehicle to enter structures is nearly impossible to guarentee with how you have to do the model for a mid-mount... Your example, on the other hand has several pivot points from the looks of it, which would pose a problem to re-create, it is no different than a truck type called a cherry picker it has a scissor type arm that folds back onto it's self and opens up, that type of aerial vehicle can't really be re-created for this game because of how the ladder is permitted a single pivot point..

Far as i know this is where the posts belonged in the first place if not oh well, bad enough having to move the solution to sit with the problem when the topic doesnt tell me what it was pertaining too and I'm far too lazy to read it.

Either contact CCC people themselves or if the model looks to belong to someone who you're familiar with contact them and ask... We require credits of the original author(s) of the models not just whomever runs the "mod" that they were found in.

The whole kicker is that unlike the original modification you don't have to use DDS format to make the model/skins work, the game supports tons of formats for textures you just can't pack them like the original LA mod has them. DDS is used for it's compression unless you're distributing your mods I really don't see a need to do this. Save em as PNG TGA BMP take your pick whichever you want, some other formats are supported but I don't wanna list em all... Open the MODEL file (the V3O) using notepad and rename the SRF lines to be the extension that your modified skin uses and save your changes... IF on Vista/7 you need to move it outta program files just like the skin had to be in order to save changes... This method is much simpler than returning it to DDS format for personal use there is no real necessity to do so, just edit a few letters in the model v3o file and you're done... Just remember to unpack both the skin and the model. IMO it's a pain in the backside to have to unpack everything just to modify the skin... but it saves mod size so I know why it was done. This is what my explanation was covering.

What ya'll need to do which isnt ungodly hard is to find the file which you've reskinned, if you're uncertain as to it's original name unpack the original V3O as well, open the v3o in note pad whatever it is named you must either save your texture change as that in dds IE rescue1.dds or alternatively change the model v3o to say whatever you wish to rename it into via the srf form of the model. SRF, Body3, 0, 0, 0, ladder013.dds, 517, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 to SRF, Body3, 0, 0, 0, ladder013.bmp, 517, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0

The game user interface can be minimized to allow you to see more of the screen, alternatively you can rotate the view by holding the scrolling wheel down and moving the mouse, this sometimes allows you to find hidden persons that are close to the edge of the map... If you for instance fight a fire on the very border sometimes you can't quite get an angle to grab the personnel at, most mods do not have missions on the very edge of the map for this reason. The car, probrably was damaged by the fire, and because it was damaged was no longer accessable/usable.... It should, however have been able to be towed without blowing up. IF you are encountering problems WITH a mod you should note that it is a mod, as these might be bugs within the mod it's self that are responsible for the issues you experience..

use the predone shapes in zmod, there is one that is a cylender, set the number of round sides to however many you need to effectively model the overall shape of the mirror, then the depth I use usually 2 rows of polys to help create the ) shape that most mirrors have being aerodynamic these days... Basically take the cylender that you created and tweak the shape so it looks more like a mirror instead of a cylender. O to (__) shape and then on the front half taper the thing down (using scale) to make it appear more aerodynamic since most vehicles do not have square mirrors... In the case of fire engines and things like that generally though, you can get away with a fairly square shaped mirror. Hopefully this helps you.

The Emergency 3 Mod Installer may require a registry entry tweak in order to function correctly. NOTE: Modifying or deleting the wrong registry key may cause serious damage to your Windows installation. If you are uncomfortable, have someone who is more computer savvy do it for you. We will be creating the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 3 US. Within it we will have the Value name 'Installdir' with the value data '[installation directory]'. Please follow these instructions exactly: 1) Start regedit by selecting Start - Run, typing in 'regedit' and then hitting 'OK'. 2) Select 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' and press the '+' button to its left to expand the list. 3) Next, select 'SOFTWARE' and press the '+' button to its left to expand the list. 5) Right-click on 'SOFTWARE' and select New > Key. Enter the new key name: sixteen tons entertainment 6) Right-click on 'sixteen tons entertainment' and select New > Key. Enter the new key name: Emergency 3 US 7) Right-click on 'Emergency 3 US' and select New > String value. Enter the new key name: Installdir 8) Right-click on 'Installdir' and select Modify. In the 'Value Data' field, enter the full path of your installation directory. By default, this value is C:\Program Files\Strategy First\Emergency 3 Now, exit the registry editor by selecting the File menu and then clicking on Exit.
