  2. IF you have vista/7 UAC is blocking saving it to the original location, copy to your desktop then put it back into program files whence it came... IF the file is in DDS you do best to get a DDS converter, the LA mod has a special lock on the files, I wrote instructions several times on how to get by it in several topics, search for LA mod reskin and you should be able to find one for them.

    Clan IEM

    The clans astound me everyone tries to promote their clan (they are merely members) the clans themselves would be better to appoint a SINGLE individual to address their topics here, permit none of your other member(s) to comment in the topics as they usually end up screwing it up for the admin of the clan since they're too gung ho so to speak where the clan operator tends to be more of sound mind when it comes to their clan... Just a thought, but I think you're on the right track, just might wanna tell your clan to let you handle the topic from here on in...

In an instance of such a situation (which has occured in the past) where a nation became so unstable that a forced evacuation, usually the USN will evac via 53's or chinooks depending on the numbers to a carrier or wasp group, in an incident where a principle is involved usually the embassy and it's staff is not the primary target, so you are addressing removing the reason behind the threat... Usually this would be done via convoy to an airfield for fixed wing extraction... Helicopters will simply pose far too great a risk to the personnel on board them if the threat was against everyone, not a primary target. IF the embassy was compromised they'd just take the staff to an airport and evacuate them via a fixed wing aircraft until repairs can be completed or relocate them to a secured zone.

  6. Yepper it is unfortunately what the job entails... Even higher ranking you end up for the most part babysitting something or another to ensure that it is secured.. The mission concept he has created works and would likely include the US Marines stationed to defend the installation as opposed to DSS or the USSS, the only concern for either of these offices is the principle VIP they are assigned to protect. In a foreign soil situation most security detail comes from the local agencies to control the perimiter while the primary security forces come from within your independent protective detail... Unfortunately most the time it is impractical and to be honest politically dangerous to have the area carpet bombed by your defense forces since if someone shot someone (even justified) it would probrably cause heavy diplomatic tensions as a result. Depending on the viability and level of a threat dictates whether a helo would be deployed, if the aircraft could draw potentially fatal fire in a situation they would never employ it in times of crisis for the simple fact of it being far too high risk.. In those instances ground convoys are typically deployed because they are far more rapid to stage and far less noticable than the helicopters landing and obviously having to return to the skies. Unfortunately you can only secure so much space and all it takes is one armed baddie and your helo is kaput.

Here is my theory, I am unsure IF this author actually did pack the DDS as hoppah did, however ensure that you've enabled the ability to rename the extensions in windows (I figure you have Vista/7) Under folder options in Windows Explorer goto the View Tab... untick hide extensions for known file types... This will actually change the extension... The other thing I can suggest aside from attempting to use a DDS converter to open the DDS prior to renaming it V3O would be to use a DDS converter, perhaps for whatever reason somewhere along the line the DDS structure was corrupted by all the things you've done to it? I am unsure if people can lock a DDS file, I believe you can protect them so they can't be tampered with, if this is what that user did you'd need them to supply a raw version of the file that isnt encrypted.
  8. Are you certain you are re-tagging the DDS file in the same folder as the v3o to v3o? I'm unsure whether or not you've tried to open the V3O in notepad... I need to know if you've verified you are indeed working the DDS file and NOT the original real model v3o. The DDS temporarilly becomes a V3O so that it may be unpacked via the editor, THEN you must rename it back to DDS in order to proceed with unpacking the DDS file. Let me know a bit more clearly how far along you've gotten.

  10. look up hoopah's adding vehicles tutorial it explains all you must do to add a new vehicle, though it will NOT return to the Hosptial without modifying the script pretty badly since the script is meant for the original ambulance only.
  11. the lights are attatched to the prototype file not the model... you have to edit the prototype to resolve that. Skinning issue is probrably because you just unpacked the MODEL file, not the DDS, you have to rename the DDS file to a v3o to unpack it, then rename it back to a DDS in order for a dds converter to read em., right click on your V3O and open it with notepad; if the thing has these lines to it.. [VNUM=1.43] [NUMSURFACES=3] [NUMVERTICES=2249] [NUMBLENDVERTS=0] [NUMPOLYGONS=2932] [NUMBONES=0] [NUMMUSCLEANIMS=0] [NUMMUSCLEFRAMES=0] Continues on... Its the model file not the texture file, a texture file will not have this

  13. You're going way too far ahead you're walking the pylons for the bridge when the roadbed aint even been placed looking at all your questions you've posted... Instead of having 1 topic per question (most of which probrably won't ever be answered since tutorials do exist) Why not just make a singular topic and keep all your questions IN one topic? To do what you've asked here is probrably outside of your league, you have to download the freeplay base map that is in the EMP dl center, then open that in a paint program and edit it in order to make changes to the floor map... Once that is done then you must do all the editor-tasked items... Your skinning questions, you make the lightbars flash in the editor, not in a paint program... You have to work with the space the bar was UV mapped to since I'm guessing you can't model and probrably don't even have zmod you won't be able to remap or change the lightbar, so you MUST work within the lightbar mapping already done... Which is not always designed to be reskinned.. How to texture a car is too complicated for me to explain especially considering I don't have or use your program.

Sadly, no we can't change the size of the map, what you see on the map is what you get, the only thing that can be adjusted is the "scale" of the buildings and roads and such... problem with that is that unfortunately, people are set at X size so it'd look goofy if you shrunk everything down so we have to work with what we got... In the end we're going to try to load it with missions while limiting our station "influence" so that more missions and less crap that does nothing will be involved on the map, one way or another we'll figure out how we can make it as enjoyable as possible within the limited space the original map provides (in size). New buildings and things like that should allow us to manage the space more practically than the original buildings and map layout did we hope anyway.
  15. We've already covered this idea, the Tower Mid-mount unit is scheduled for the next full-version update, the standard aerial ladder will not be replaced... The next update version is to include the helicopters replaced with authentic units, the mid-mount tower ladder, and a new map.... These things take time to create obviously, but somewhere on a previous page this exact statement was made.
  16. you posted in the wrong forum so it was moved here, chances are your scripts are damaged due to incorrectly placed coding strands, you'd have to either attatch the scripts you changed or put in the code snippets that you modified so that someone might be able to help you.
  17. To be honest with you I don't believe this is practical, probrably does not have a ton of followers on this site either way, so I doubt someone will attempt this... Here are the reasons why.. I don't recall but I believe they goto something in the neighborhood of 30 tracks/year, which would mean different local vehicles since the ambulances, the emergency track trucks, and police are all locally supplied. The tracks nascar tends to race on are banked corners and in most cases straightaways as well, this would be hard to replicate in a manner that the vehicles would be able to pathfind onto the track correctly (not impossible, just very difficult to replicate smooth transitions) What you propose would be purely mission-based scripting... Most mods don't even have missions for this very reason, they are time consuming and very few people can script complex events taking place, a simple vehicle crash isnt too difficult, but when you have a more complex strand you'd need a really advanced scripter, there just arent alot on this site who can do it... Even fewer probrably would have the appeal to do this. Making the stock cars themselves isnt a problem but when you look at the immense number of reskins required+the fact this would be mission-based only given all the tracks are spread all over it just probrably won't appeal to modders since most people who play this game enjoy the "sandbox" nature of freeplay far more than missions. In conclusion, it might very well be possible but if this is something you'd really like to see chances are you'd have to attempt to do it yourself and maybe then you'd be able to pick up followers who could help you do the missions and what not for the tracks... As far as someone wanting to do this idea themselves on their own initiative I just can't see someone doing that, perhaps someone will prove me wrong but I would not count on it.

  21. The F-250 is a direct-port from my mod, the things in the bed were from where the jet-ski sat on it=) Note the brushguard is the same as what I built=) Nice work on retooling the tahoe C.F.D. Sry I left parts on there that were from me playing with it=)
  22. 1. find the DDS file to the model in question you wish to change. 2. you must rename the DDS extension to .V3O so that the editor can read the file as a model file EX: "fordltd01.dds" must become "fordltd01.v3o" but because there is already a fordltd01.v3o you need to mark it differently because it can't have two filenames the same, I use a "t" added to rectify that.. fordltd01t.v3o 3. load the editor goto modifications menu and load the mod.... then goto modifications and look for "unpack file" find the v3o you renamed the dds into "fordltd01t.v3o" and unpack the file. 4. exit the editor, rename the file "fordltd01t.v3o" to "fordltd01.dds" 5. use a dds converter to convert the DDS file to a common format your paint application can read, which is now readable since it was unpacked I can't make the instructions any simpler

  24. I love how rude people are when people are trying to help them... IF the vehicle came from the LA mod it has to be made into a V3O before you can even open it using a DDS program or DDS converter, you have to manually change the extension from DDS to V3O and unpack the file IN the editor, then rename the extension BACK to DDS to load it into a DDS converter.
