[RELEASED] Brooklyn "Borough of Fire" (BOF) Modification
MikeyPI replied to rafaelmfernandez's topic in Mods
Double posting, harassing these guys, take it to pm if you have an issue with them or alternatively we can always grant a vacation from here too for a little bit for your language, general behavior, and disregard of the TOS. -
When you go to export a file, make sure the object name matches the filename you export it as IE if the object is named car1 then you have to export as car1.v3o, or just go under the export button's little down arrow and select multiple export and then you can dump all the objects in the zmod file at once.... much easier imo. As far as UV mapping there are tutorials for how to do the UV mapping of a vehicle, explaining the whole process in a post is a bit much, help with an aspect of it nadda big deal but the whole process bit much. http://forum.emergency-planet.com/tutorials/article/3-zmodeler-2-uv-mapping-texturing/

The package on the site is not corrupted (for the LA mod i'm unsure about the London), but what is usually the culprit is that the file did not download 100% correctly, which means delete the file off your computer and clear your internet browser(s) cache and redownloading the file. Sometimes although rarely it can be a problem with the installation of the game it's self causing the issue, reinstall the game to the default directory and it should work.

nice little reduction and exactly what I meant too =) The vehicle still looks about the same but lost alot of fat.

Lotta people waste polys in the interiors, on the recessed body parts that you won't really see much. When playing the game you're zoomed out a bit so you really don't get to see the underside, the lower portions of the bumpers, things like that. In this game unlike GTA or NFS you're not on top of the car so you don't need to overkill the LOD on the lower portions of the car, they arent that visible anyway. Overcomplicating the mirrors or the bed of a truck, in your cars they are fairly fine as is.

I have the same project on my list, cept I have to make em all instead of converting em =-(

Brooklyn Modification: Fires not synced in Multiplayer
MikeyPI replied to rafaelmfernandez's topic in Modding Related Support
It could be something as dumb as the nr. of events on a map is so quantified that when it has to pick between them the 2/4 copies of the game can't synchronize the process of picking one... Idk if you guys changed the events or quantity recently, but that may be whats causing the load that is making it not synched. -
Brooklyn Modification: Fires not synced in Multiplayer
MikeyPI replied to rafaelmfernandez's topic in Modding Related Support
Sounds like a synchronization issue, meaning that the games aren't running together (this game is very guilty of doing this behavior) why it is doing it with fires I honestly don't know what might be causing that. This game really sucks at synch, that is why certain things only a host can do while the other players can't do it without catastrophic glitches if it doesnt total it 100%. Chances are something that is running that works fine for Freeplay is running in the background that is eating up the resources that would otherwise be needed for other things for MP.. Tis why I suggested to ya guys to make an MP support-only mod that was separate from the rest of the SP functions, the lighter/more optimized for MP a mod is, the better, some things that SP does fine MP doesnt like and almost always glitches on... Outside of that, look for demanding scripts/functions that were recently added that may be running in the background full-time that may be taking priority eating up resources and potentially causing the games synch issues to be more prevalent. Latency +em4 dun get along at all. -
Models from other games just credit the game in which it came from (if the original author is EA for example credit EA) If the author of the model was an independent modder for a different game you'd require their permission to convert it and release it.

Firefighter interested in this game but unsure how to proceed
MikeyPI replied to Hokiefireman's topic in General Talk
An Ipad won't run the game, as laptops go, you can run it on integrated chipsets (intel/amd) but they arent the best choice, really you gotta find a laptop with either an ATI or Nvidia non-integrated card installed, they are more pricey than the run of the mill laptop but better suited to gaming purposes... Outside of the video card most all the computers out there now can suffice, figure get a notebook with 4gb ram or more and a 2ghz+ processor you'll run the game fine, the vid card i'd suggest a nvidia or an ati to be able to enjoy the game to its fullest. -
Firefighter interested in this game but unsure how to proceed
MikeyPI replied to Hokiefireman's topic in General Talk
As a training tool I really don't think this is up to par for those purposes, as a hobby/gaming experience it is rather fun. You will need a windows computer, most computers available today can run this game. IF you are looking for an online purchase of the game you can find it on many sites such as amazon. To find a CD copy you would have to look for EM4/Deluxe which is more of a european release, 911:First Responders was released to the North American Market. System Requirements: http://forum.emergency-planet.com/forum-42/announcement-6-emergency-4deluxe911-first-responders-system-requirements-read-this-first-if-your-game-experiences-lag/ Realize that some of the mods out there do require more extensive system requirements but to play most of them you can get away with a pretty standard system today. I am unsure as to whether it can run on the MAC os, I believe it can on newer ones but I am unsure of that. -

[RELEASED] Brooklyn "Borough of Fire" (BOF) Modification

Toshiba Satellite C55t 2.0 Quad core AMD with AMD Radeon HD8400... Ran Fine on it. -
Here the emergency vehicle is not at fault regardless of what it's done, so they tend to behave a bit more accordingly to that law if you can guess my meaning.... I am a great example of someone that just by using the blinky lights and blowing a light, the lights and siren on with a reasonable cause for being on I'd not be held liable for plowing into your mini-van... You should've heeded the warning lights and siren and not been in my wreckless way... I think it's rediculous because due regard should be practiced but the law says they arent at fault and as such more police than ems/fire behave more wrecklessly.

All modern cars have such a "black box" that is capable of telling the last 30 seconds to 1 minute of the vehicle operation IE brake input, speed, forces incurred, etc... GM started putting them in their cars around about 1998, the rest of the auto makers have put in a similar system with the computer controlled nature of the automobiles today. The problem with the system is that it is easy to fool/clear... IF you spin the wheels the speedo reads the wheel speed, not actual for example, if ABS is offline (this can be done by the driver) it shows the speed as 0 even though the vehicle is still obviously moving. The car equiv of a black box just doesnt work as well as a full blown recording of the incident. Alot of gov't vehicles have to have cameras operative while in operation, sadly POV aint one of em.

My feelings as someone who's got the lights on one of my cars is that in reality most the people who have them really don't need them (myself included). While mine isnt a light farm, they still look out of place on my POV.. In america it isnt normal to see lights on my particular car, but it's lit up with police lights just the same... From my experience the lights really don't make people move too fast anyway because again my car is not commonly an emergency vehicle in america, now the air horn works quite well at scaring people half to death and making them move quickly out of the way. But again the "seconds counting" really doesnt come into play with me, mine were put on for work duty that I rarely if ever even need them for, meaning most the time they are hidden quietly out of sight and never even seen by most people unless you lean down and look at the roof inside the car. Seconds may count, but when you have more vehicles responding with emergency lighting (perhaps not heeding regulations or knowing another emergency vehicle may be approaching that same intersection) you end up with a messy accident because both vehicles assumed right of way without yielding in an attempt to make it to the scene faster. In the end yes the lights serve a purpose, but they can only serve that purpose if used responsibly, and considering that most POV's don't have a full blown "black box" or camera running when they are responding to a scene it just gives alot of room to not abide by the regulations set by municipalities/gov or the departments in question, resulting in abusive behavior that can cause more harm than good. Yes it is usually the one rotten egg, but in this world it's the one rotten egg that spoils the whole dish.

1). ya need 3rd party software to create the EXE and all that... Waste of time imo. 2). Simple, load mod installer, select the mod, press make package. Save to location, add to rar/zip add readme, done.
-
That'd be the truth with the 4-8 gb config, you blow through it amazingly fast... I'd go for 16 in his case and I think he'll be okey, esp if he has a board that is upgradable

The Memory issue is a big deal because not all games are 64 enabled, so having more ram doesnt work with those games unless they are 64bit... Sucks but the way memory is handled means that some games, especially older ones won't ever see the whole system's memory, nor be able to use it. But newer games that are 64 bit will take advantage of the ram, and at least your system will have it.

Thats a proper desktop the price i was quoting was for a notebook (mobile, mein that could do GTAIV was 1250). Yours will be fine for most games, you may want to consider upping the physical ram a bit more if you want to do gtaV idk what that game will need but i'm sure it would be more demanding than GTA IV was most likely... Plus future games will be worse i'm sure.

To buy a new computer seems a waste to me since you've got one that works... Its just that certain games with an integrated card are hard to run cleanly. It's the trade-off in buying a computer with an integrated card, a real 3D card costs alot more money in a notebook, but notebooks arent really meant for gaming anyway, they are built for mobility.. Ultimately what helps you run a mod is the developers gearing them for all the computer types out there, some developers do that, the latest BOF mod is capable of running on an intel chipset so you should be able to run that one without problems. IF you do have problems go into the editor and remove some of the lights off the vehicles and that will make a large impact on the performance issues. The only way to justify a new computer is for games like GTA IV and things like that you'd definately need a new one to do.... If you are a relatively casual gamer yours is fine, if you play a ton of high performance games and wish to do so on a mobile computer you'll have to be willing to put out around 1200+ for it. Most mobile computers simply arent meant for gaming but can do them to a point.

In his case it's mostly GPU related, he only has an integrated card from what I've gathered.
