The best way to find common commuter buses is to google search for the larger city city buses/metro buses. Try like houston city bus, houston metro bus, washington dc city bus, orlando city bus, baltimore city bus, miami metro bus, etc... That will give you an idea of what kind of buses they have out there. This one shows up alot in cities, idk what it is or who makes it unfortunately buses are not my forte. I believe it is a New Flyer D40LF (the year range is what I don't know I've found them from 2005ish-2010+) For a road service truck perhaps try AAA roadside service trucks.

People like to run their mouths.. People like to incite violence.. People don't like being held responsible for actions, so I doubt many will be lining up to full on war the cops there... The sad fact of this world in general, the more shocking and intense a situation can be made, the more you can't turn your head away from it.. The media realizes this. The media is not a noble "truth" serving industry, it has nothing to do with the people and their right to know. Media is owned by for-profit corporations that intend to make money, the way to do this is ad revenue. Keeping your eyes glued to the screen through speculation and inciting reactions (mostly visceral in nature) is their industry today. Anyone who watches the news, whatever the source must bear this in mind and accept that what you hear is generally not totally on the up and up, but inflamed explicitly to make you react (but not change the channel/close the browser/etc)... As to what led the cop to do what he did? lord knows, only he knows why the situation degraded to such to necessitate firing upon an unarmed subject. The other party involved can only help to solve that mystery in a seance... Such is life when someone dies, I can't say that I feel bad/good towards either party in this situation, because honestly I've become numb to these types of incidents that always have someone receiving culpability but really both parties usually hold equal fault in the end result.

New fire trucks for your mod! Pierce Quantum Pack released!
MikeyPI replied to Rafael's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
Well, goodluck on this I can tell ya you're going to get specific purpose requests from everyone.. The reason most people don't do these things is because they are custom-made for the dept that uses them... The only things that are fairly similar are the chassis (cab) components.. The pumps/rears of the trucks tend to be custom fitted for the dept's requirements. -
I doubt someone will do a video on how to add the script, in the end it is like adding any other function from one mod to another.. IF you find how to add X script to another mod, it will follow much the same operation... They are correct though it won't be a simple copy/paste, chances are you will have to edit the script, along with adding the commands to the units in the editor.

At that price point you will only find an integrated chipset (amd or intel) while these can play some games, realize they are not dedicated memory and therefore not the best for gaming.. I have a Satellite with an AMD chipset, it generally can play most older games (pre-2013) without much effort, however it does struggle with particles (smoke) and shadows, turn these down on most games and it is pretty good overall.. As to EM4 the game is an oddball one, for it being so old when you use modifications with it, it needs a good deal of resources, so typically the integrated cards are spotty when it comes to mods... IF that is the best you can do, the best way to help with that is higher memory available... The integrated chipsets have "shared memory" meaning it uses what the system has overall to supply it's self memory, this fact takes away physical memory from the application/system, while also limiting the card it's self... To help with that try to find a system with 6-8 gb ram, it will allow it more memory to use instead of a 4 gb where you'll likely lose a gb to the vid card.

Vehicle Texture Problem (911 First Responders)
MikeyPI replied to patrickm28's topic in Technical Related Support
The engine to the top-left in your image appears to me normal, the one below it does not, my best guess would be that there is something different in the texture files causing that one to appear right and the others not, alpha reflections is all that I can think of.. Note that on the vehicles the wheels appear normal, the same is true of other parts you would not want to reflect... I believe I am correct in the cause of the issue... You could try saving them as a BMP format, opening the v3o files and changing the texture it references from .png to .bmp using notepad on one of them that does not appear correctly.. BMP doesnt support alpha channels so it should remove the alpha channel from the skin... -
AMD A6-6310 Processor with AMD Radeon R4 graphics Ensures reliable performance. This means an onboard chipset video graphics card, they do well with videos and things like that, they are not designed for gaming so at best you have a 50/50 chance it will run the game well... On mine for example it runs it relatively well, but does not like particles or dynamic lighting... Really to be able to play games on a laptop it would require either an ATI video chipset or a Nvidia chipset... Those two chips can do gaming relatively well for a laptop, however laptops are not designed for gaming so it's a push to expect desktop performance from a notebook device. The last notebook I had that could handle gaming pretty well was a 1200 usd computer, if you are not willing to drop around 700+ for a notebook realize that it probrably won't be that capable when it comes to gaming. In order to have any chance at being decent at gaming it should have an ATI or Nvidia dedicated chipset, not a processor integrated video system.

Wait for a while, even though it says it is not responding it is loading the files, this is normal behavior for a modification... Wait around 10 minutes or so at the worst it should load then... Depending on your pc's performance dictates the load times, some are only a few minutes (2-4) others have to wait 15.

Vehicle Texture Problem (911 First Responders)
MikeyPI replied to patrickm28's topic in Technical Related Support
Depends on the program you have unfortunately, an easy way would be to change the texture format to .bmp (BMP cannot have alpha channels), to do that open the texture in your paint program and save it as a bitmap, then re-open the BMP and save it as the original file format... PNG/DDS whatever it was originally and it should remove the alpha channel. -
Vehicle Texture Problem (911 First Responders)
MikeyPI replied to patrickm28's topic in Technical Related Support
They may not be on the textures themselves, you may have to open the textures and delete the alpha channel directly, the fact that some things on the vehicles appear correctly but not the bodywork leads me to believe that it is probably related to the alpha channel. You may have to load the texture in a paint program and manually delete the alpha channels.. The other possibility is the format the textures are saved in isnt rendering on ur card. -
Vehicle Texture Problem (911 First Responders)
MikeyPI replied to patrickm28's topic in Technical Related Support
looks to me like it is the alpha reflections your guys cards cannot do correctly may be to blame, disabling the alphas on the textures or in the editor on the prototypes of the vehicles that are offending themselves may resolve the issue. -
That works with a basic model swap, where the gameplay is essentially the same (like LA to Miami or Houston or something of the like) but to go from LA modern to a historical context requires basically starting over since the original game unmolested can't work historically... If I approached this task I'd do it from the ground-up in the original game since it is more limited, adding what I could and omitting modern things that cannot be made for the era.

Moderator Task: Delly, when responding you don't have to double-post to quote multiple people, on the menubar at the bottom right there is a button that says "multiquote" Click this under each post you wish to quote, and it will permit you to reply to them within the same post. (saves a double posting). I merged your previous two posts. @ Fred, yep la mod spoiled people, but aside from that in the original gameplay aspect you require some vehicles that just did not exist back then, so filling in a "complete" mod isnt as easy going back as far as I would with it. I'm a go big or go home kinda guy with the idea though... Making a fictional mod would be the only way you can really try to pull this idea off IMO, easier would be closer to recent era, say 1960 or so would be much easier to do than a full blown historical mod. Remember back in the day they did not have divers as they do today (the navy had some going back a while but police/fire/ems certainly did not) Mobile cranes were extremely rare to exist back then, the few that did were huge, even covering basic vehiculars is a toughie to pull off, but in a fictional sense far more practical to do. Alot of the mission types have to be removed from play though as you can't respond with era equiptment. Most cities going back historically didnt have traffic signals till the advent of abundant electricity, even then still took some time to develop true signals. Most cities ran stop signs and traffic direction for a good long time. Like I said, I like the idea honestly, it just is alot of work to properly pull it off, a basic reskin/model swap would be sadly lacking imo.

If I were going to do old cars, I would want to go back to around the depression era/prohibition era, the cars are very cool but fairly simple to create, but it would require extensive scripting to make it work because of the lack of technical advancement in the era they could not deal with some of the events that occur in the game. Keeping it balanced would require replacing them. The models themselves are not a problem, finding a way to "complete" the game within the era was the thorn I ran into with it.. Even with NYC it is nearly impossible to source that far back for how the apparatus looked along with what was used.., and NYC is a very well documented city. Moderator related: Delly, try to not double post (post multiple times in a row, if you need to change a post in the future just use the edit button found at the bottom right of your post).
-
I've thought seriously about this previously, the primary problem is sourcing a factual place to do this with, now a fictional based locale would be more practical as you can use anything that is generally popular for the era... Tbh I was thinking of going even further back, but I don't know if that will ever come to fruition because of the sheer effort required in making all new vehicles and accompanying scripts for a historical context.

A little note about editing your previous post
MikeyPI replied to timmiej93's topic in Website support
Editing a post is not the same as posting, so it will not "bump" a thread by simply editing the post.. This has to do with the forum framework we and most other sites use, it is what it is.... Not much we can do about that. The rule against double posting is to prevent a user from needlessly "bumping" their topics/threads constantly. Simple fact of it is alot of people out there will post something, ehh say half a day later post something else (still not enough to help fix their issue) but expecting that bumping their topic will garner them assistance... Best bet for someone asking for help is to put in every single bit of information they can regarding the issue, and hope someone wants to take the time to help them fix it. When it comes to double posting with regards to modifications, we give lee way to double post for updates and such, but when it comes to just double posting for bumping purposes is when we get angered.... In summary when you post a topic be as specific and clear about your issue as possible, and hope someone takes the time to assist you with your issues... Most people who double post are simply trying to keep "bumping" their thread up the line when the sad reality is sometimes people either can't help or just don't want to take the time to do it... Editing and marking as unread wouldnt really change these facts. -
The game was sold as Emergency 4 to most of the world, 911:First Responders to the North American Continent, you should be able to order the game off of amazon.com I believe for UK users (someone from the UK can correct me if there is an easier way to go about it). I believe there has been a London mod created for the EM4, along with many other mods for this game. EM4/911:FR runs on winxp/vista/win7/win8.

Fred would be right, it is a direct violation of the TOS to have two accounts, lost passwords can be reset so there really isnt a need to have created a new account.... I suggest you go through that process to recover the old account because the new one is going to get deleted in 2 days. It isnt too hard to request your password reset, it probrably takes more time to make a new account than to just reset the old.

Looking for someone to build me a mod
MikeyPI replied to txfirefighter's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
If the price is right you can buy my time, my going rate would be 25,000 USD, that is more than fair in my opinion given the time I will require invested to do whatever you want done. Unless it's just a simple reskin of an existing LA mod or something like that, then the price goes down to 10,000-15,000 depending on time invested. More than fair imo. -
Help installing New York City mod
MikeyPI replied to arkfirefighter's topic in Technical Related Support
Well there ya go that works too =) If you encounter problems in the future remember to run the things as an administrator, Vista, 7 and 8 all have UAC by default over program files and program files (x86) in my case 911 first responders is x86 b/c im a 64 bit system... But in either case you either have to modify the priveledges, disable UAC, or just run as an admin (easiest option of all 3). The mod does indeed work as I just verified it not too long ago, sometimes it gives the error about corrupted file from time to time just because it didnt download right... Either way glad you made it work for yourself. -

You either renamed or deleted the control panel I bet, I just looked up the exact error location.. l1 is pointing towards an object missing on the map. -
Help installing New York City mod
MikeyPI replied to arkfirefighter's topic in Technical Related Support
Right Click the mod file, pick open with... go to the bottom of the list to look for another app on this pc, find the modinstaller if it isnt in the list check under the installdir of the game.... Make sure you run the modinstaller as an administrator as well, since it has to install to program files UAC will try to stop this. I always extract the file(s) out of the rar/zip too, instead of sending them to a temp folder for the process.. -

MikeyPI replied to timmiej93's topic in Modding Related Support
Quite simply, if you changed the vo's on the map and renamed them for example, or deleted some then the script won't function correctly anymore since it checks the map for said VOs/objects. -
