Update your video card drivers and make sure you have directx 9.0 installed on your computer. That's why you're crashing. -

IF you cannot afford a legit video card, be forewarned you will have to reduce graphical settings and expect to experience performance loss with an intel or amd integrated chipset. Getting a computer with an integrated chipset will reduce the price from around 750 to around 550usd for a decent little computer. A "netbook" is not suitable for gaming at all, they have limited power and ram specifically because they were designed to surf the web, after you take into account the OS requirements that doesnt leave much for the programs you wish to run. A lower end notebook (I have a satellite) can play most games well, but the AMD chipset hates shadows/dynamic lighting and partcle effects. EM4 makes heavy use of both so it is not ideal for the game at all. The Satellite series from toshiba, the HP notebooks, the dells (I had an XPS) arent bad computers, but without a video card, either Nvidia or ATI that are not integrated, gaming is rather tough to do on a notebook. My notebook that was very good at gaming came in at a cost of around 1k usd but could play GTAIV as well as, if not better than most desktops on the market. You do get what you pay for, and if you're going to go cheap you have to either look into refurbished, or lesser brands for a decent computer that has the non-integrated chipset.

Load more reply options on the forum instead of using the quick reply... You will see attatch files at the bottom of the box to reply. Upload your logfile found within the EM4 directory so that we can see what is going on. -

Yerp.. Find the desktop ver of the driver instead of the mobile ones... It's the only thing I can think of other than maybe the VB runtimes.. but far as I recall they werent needed for em4 itself (not 100% on that one though since I did my setup quite some time ago). The problem is that EM4 is an old game an win8 doesnt come with alot of the requirements for old apps/games. You have to manually install those things in order for it to work unfortunately. If upping the drivers doesnt do it I'd give it a shot in getting the visual basic runtimes from 2004 onward. I think it was VB 2004/2008 on 64x and 32x.

It will put in missing files to make the game run on win8.. Just a by the by, the 8.1 update actually does improve win8 in a few ways, it shouldnt screw anything up with how you've got your system right now if I remember right.

I have DX9 installed and I have windows 8.1 as well, I just had directx 9.0 on a cd from a game I installed. You require the full DX9.0C setup file in order to get it to install. It will go through and install the file(s) that are missing in your later version of dx that shipped with win8.

You could try updating your videocard drivers they could be why you're crashing the game, also make sure you have an older version of directx installed (directx 9 I think it is).

A helicopter that drops water is possible, it would replace the airplane but be a chopper instead as the easiest way to do it... Other methods it may be possible but I doubt anyone has attempted to make a seamless version that could function as a helo then also do drops. -

semantics actually, we can decide to hit you if the intent in your wording is the same as saying when will it be released. We aint lawyers here so we know that users can get the intent of a rule and respect it, trying to be clever is fruitless. -
My best guess, your program files folder is protected by UAC so when you are exporting it isnt able to overwrite the original model file because of this.. Save the V3O to desktop and alter it there... Alternatively remove the UAC permissions on the EM4 Folder under properties to permit users to edit the folder, or run zmod as an admin.

Check in the unit.xml for the hazmat truck, verify that the hazmat personnel are permitted to use the vehicle. If the LA mod is used as a base you should also check the entercar script as that could be why your people won't enter it as well.

Load the editor and under the modifications menu you will find unpack file... Find all the V3O files and unpack them one by one. Most vehicles have several v3o files for them so you have to unpack them all. -

Well I would suggest disabling alpha reflections within the editor of the persons/vehicle models first, as well as changing your graphics settings in game to be medium to low quality. One of these two steps are far more "novice" level tricks that can resolve the issue. IF the issues persist after these steps have been taken you have to be willing to go into more advanced alterations to repair it, that is what the V3O and Texture file changes come into play for. The V3O files are the model files for the cars/persons within this game, in those files when you open them with notepad it references a texture file that is associated to it. (note: the v3o files must be unpacked in order for this to be possible). Near the top of the file when opened in notepad you will see SRF lines: SRF, Body, 0, 0, 0, Ambulance01.png, 517, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0SRF, Interior, 0, 0, 0, Ambulance01_Interior.png, 517, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0SRF, Rear, 0, 0, 0, Ambulance01_2.png, 517, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0Not all vehicles have that many, some have more, either way it does not matter, what does matter is the filename referenced. In the example they are .png formatted image files, you would want to use either a paint program or an image converter program to change them from .png to .bmp format... Changing them to .bmp format will remove the alpha layers from the vehicle, removing the ability to have alpha reflections on them... But in order for the models to show the textures you have to change those lines from .png at the end of each filename to .bmp within the .V3O model files in order for it to find the textures and use them correctly. As to losing the alpha channel, some vehicles use alpha channels for transparency, not just alpha reflections meaning that if the alpha is removed the vehicle will lose the transparency on the parts that have it applied. This is generally only a concern with things like cage mesh, some ladders use alpha transparency for their ladder components, things like that... But if you are not seeing the vehicles right anyway I don't think losing the transparency is that bad of a trade-off. First either lower your settings and/or use the editor to disable alpha reflections from the models and see if that helps before attempting a more advanced task. -
The ones that are just folders should have installation instructions.. IF it is a sub-mod type of mod it will have to be extracted into the folder of the "master" mod (IE a submod for LA mod will have to be extracted into the LA mod folder). IF it is a standalone mod then you should just have to extract a primary folder into your mods directory, the rest of the structure should be extracted from there for you. In short, look for a README file or instruction txt document in the main folder of the mod... They should provide exacting instructions on what their mods require and how to install it.

this would appear to be another alpha channel related problem, either try lowering the graphics settings to medium/low. Or you can disable alpha reflections in the editor, or remove the alpha channels from the textures themselves and one of these options should resolve the over shiny vehicle issue you have going on.... http://forum.emergency-planet.com/topic/19265-vehicle-texture-problem-911-first-responders/ ^Someone with a similar issue, resolved for them as described above. -

What kind of video card does your machine have? I am guessing intel or AMD is what you've got but you can enlighten us along with a screenshot of the issues, I can tell you know though it is def. a graphical issue that is causing these problems. -
Zmod: Open model files (doors, wheels, body).... Then modify>scale. Press and hold control when you click and it will pop up a window with the scaling for X Y Z, change them all evenly to what you believe the scale difference is... Just looking at the game shot i'd say 75%-80% of original scale should put it on par with the other model shown. (realize Idk which car is larger in real life so I'm just trying to guess what is close to one another, not necessarily accurate to reality).
