@ itchboy it is a rule to credit/get permissions for content ya use and release, as a general morality standpoint and ease of course I find it better to do what terrow has done and credit with each updated picture (makes crediting easier to keep track of imo for one and it's always good to make sure credit goes where due). I was generalizing that comment about google, because alotta people go ahead and hit up sketchup and assume oh i dun have to credit, so I wanted to make that clear ya can't just go and take things, get permission n credit where it's due. Always a good thing to do but I didnt wanna have to go into a whole thing over it =)

Just a tip from the powers that be herr... You can't just go round the interwebz grabbing things off of for ex google without figuring out who to credit and getting their permissions to use it as such, the exception for permissions is conversions from another game like itchboy does, but you still must credit the proper author(s) either way.

Open the V3O In notepad or a similar program (I use notepad). They are always found at the bottom of the v3o file, you will see something like this: M, dlk_support_out0, 650A,1,0,0,0,0,-256,572A,2,0,0,0,0,-256,638A,3,0,0,0,256,0,504A,4,0,0,0,0,256,504A,5,0,0,0,0,-256,572A,6,0,0,0,0,-256,638A,7,0,0,0,256,0,558A,8,0,0,0,0,256,504A,9,0,0,0,0,-256,572A,10,0,0,0,0,-256,638A,11,0,0,0,256,0,504A,12,0,0,0,0,256,504A,13,0,0,0,0,-256,572Copy ALL those lines, the M and A lines, the M is the labeling line (tells the name of the anim/frame nr/speed of anim. The A lines are the actual data for the animation. If they are similar to the one above in ex A,1/ A,2/ A,3 You can be fairly sure it will still work in spite of modification IF the animated parts were unaltered. If the A,## is really high it may or may not work (think if a model has 4,000 vertices and the A lines are looking for the 3500-3600 vertices that they were prob got moved around in your alteration, but if they are the beg of the file (A1-A500) or whatever then its a good bet they are still in tact. Paste them into the edited file, again way at the bottom of the file below this info: BOX, -300, -71, 20, 311, 75, 159N, 0, 0, 0, 337CBOX, -300.688, -71.799, 20.105, 310.822, 74.931, 159.185Load the editor the file should have the animation names in it now (as labeled in the M line).

I believe it only changes the SP freeplay map, not the MP one, which is why I didnt mention it, it is worth a try but I wouldnt bet the farm that both change.

Hello here's my best guesses: 1). This is probably related to the glitch that is in the original game where ONLY the host of the game may operate certain things, I believe the way the crane is scripted that only the host (player1) should attempt to control the vehicle. Hosting the game I believe makes it possible to use this because it goes through a prototype swap when it goes to install, then has to change back when it is no longer deployed. The script wasnt really designed for MP so I think that's the only way that it works as it is. The alternate is to use the original crane. 2). I am not 100% sure on this one, but I believe that you unfortunately just get the new MP map regardless of whether or not you want it, the only way around this would be to get an older version of the mod and attempt to upgrade it to be compatible with the final version. Alot of work imo, if you really want to play the older map it would be far easier to use the older version it came with. 3).This one again comes back to the glitch that is in the original default game, we have never found a suitable workaround for this issue, the host is the one that should control the ladder trucks in order to enter buildings. The tiller again falls back to the fact the script wasnt meant for MP so it requires you to be player 1 (host) to work properly. Hope this helps you out.

Anyone still planning to mod EM4 when the new game releases?
MikeyPI replied to Terrow's topic in General Talk
Yeah that's going to be the problem that most people arent considering.. There are not a great deal of new content modelers out there, alot of kitbashing capable people (change lightbars/objects) but not alot of new content makers. With the performance requirements, some of them can't/won't port to the game with it's high system requirements. That being said, imo what most people are banking on doing probably won't work. I doubt you will be able to port in the GTA IV+ vehicles into this game and have them work without causing performance issues. I'm in a wait-and-see type of pattern, but for at least 6 months to a year after it's release I'd still expect the bulk of the work to be with the known em4 game platform, and some modern light/skin/map alterations to be out during that time (if it allows them easy enough). The editor having more SDK features is a good thing IF it makes it easier to do things with it, but that remains to be seen imo at this time. -
Anyone still planning to mod EM4 when the new game releases?
MikeyPI replied to Terrow's topic in General Talk
With the system specs of the new game and the questions still persisting about total ability to mod it I would say quite a few modders will retain the EM4 modding. Alot of people out there don't have the greatest machines (myself included) so with the GTA esque sys requirements I can tell ya alotta people won't be rushing out to buy a new computer just for this one game. EM4 will linger for a time as the primary bread and butter of modding, some will attempt to transfer to EM5 but I would give it a while before I expected to see "new" modding come out on that platform. Especially if older items cannot be ported. -
The LA mod is available for Emergency 3 and Emergency 4 only.

Cloning is more or less for if you have vehicles that are identical in prototypical setup (ie the doors/lights) that you want to keep, you clone the proto setup and then can replace the model with the one that you wish to use with it and modify the proto details accordingly to match. IE LAPD crown vic 0048, you want 0049 which is nearly identical aside from unit nr in a reskin fashion. You would want to use the clone feature to save time in having to re-align everything again.

[RELEASED] Brooklyn "Borough of Fire" (BOF) Modification
MikeyPI replied to rafaelmfernandez's topic in Mods
To the 8 people who made a nice mess for me to clean up, next time report the off topic don't continue the bantering on about it within the topic that it isnt about. -
I downloaded the mod package that is currently on the site all but a month ago, the package is not corrupted, it does indeed work. Chances are your browser did not successfully download the mod correctly, try clearing your temp internet files cache and/or using a different browser. The package found on the site's download section is fine. The multiplayer map will be changed, it won't be exactly the same as the new freeplay map but it won't be the default mp map anymore.

Depending on where the animated parts are in the model file, you can copy the animation lines from the unaltered file (open it in notepad and copy the animation lines out of it). When you complete alterations such as changing a lightbar or things of that nature that do not affect the animated portion of it, sometimes the animation will preserve and still work in spite of the alterations. The keys are that the animated portion be at the front of the model file, and that the animation portions are un-moved from their location when altering the model. If this is the case paste the animation lines you copied from the file prior to altering it back where they came from at the end of the v3o file in notepad, save the file and the animations will work if the animation is ordered correct.

Search online for tutorials, there are plenty about how to model in each respective program. Most of us learned with tutorials, help from others when we hit a speed bump and mostly alotta trial and error. Paying to learn how to model for a hobby isnt practical.

You really have exhausted the 11" options I'm sorry to say, most of those class of computers are pretty much just netbooks, meaning can run the OS and do some light apps like surf the web, outside of that they lack the power (in some cases the actual software) to do much else. They are mostly meant as a cheap option to tote around for travel and on-the-go surfing ability.. That way you aint losing a 1k investment if someone damages it while traveling or steals it. In the 15 inch realm you have alot more options as to what you want/need. Figure at the lower price points you will end up with either an Intel or AMD video card depending on the processor brand, in those cases more ram is a good thing since the card uses it instead of having its own dedicated ram available. Odds are tall that you'd find an ATI or Nvidia card within a notebook at under 500 new. In the end if all you want to do is play EM4 only and don't mind having reduced settings on the game, any 400ish laptop would suffice except on the most demanding mods. High particles (smoke) and dynamic lights/shadows are a problem for the intel/amd chipsets for the most part. Cheaper end notebooks you can get one as low as 350-400, a decent little one at around 500.

The reason you did not have PM ability is that you were still classed as a "new member", this is the case until you post outside of off topic (As offtopic is set to not count towards posts). I have changed you over to a member so that is not an issue anymore.

Unfortunately when you're in netbook territory you usually just have enough resources to run light apps/movies and browse the web, the suggestions I gave you are more in line with a weaker multimedia computer that can do older games fairly decent. I understand size constraints being an issue, imo a 15 inch screen isnt too big to where it's not portable in a proper case anyway. My computer is a satellite, it only weighs around 5 pounds and at 15 inch screen is rather portable without much effort.. Just have to watch mine b/c it's a touch screen (they can be broken with alot less force than a normal screen). You can pickup a decent normal low-end notebook around 350-500 bucks that can do some gaming (even though that's not what you use it for most). Realize that video cards are really the bread and butter of gaming, especially on older games that don't have a great deal of graphical customization options. The less you can alter in the settings, the less quality you can tweak for your particular card's weaknesses. Having a 3 ghz processor but a weak video card will result in much the same performance as a much slower/weaker machine. In your price point you're pretty much going to get an integrated chipset from any decent brand, but some of them are able to do things like em4 fairly well. My integrated chip lets me play games like STALKER so that goes to show you that they arent too bad sometimes.
-
it very well could be that you are missing a codec that is required to read them, I am able to load them in windows media player, though I have win8 w/ K-lite installed.
-
Might be able to replace them, that might work... Deleting them will probrably result in CTD
-
Thats unfortunately all I can guess at, it is crapping out on you when trying to run the videos for the game, unless there is something in your video card settings you can tweak in regards to the game, I can't think of anything else that may be causing it to not work right.
-
The only other things I can think of is perhaps you have a codec pack installed like K-lite, or some type of burner/mounting software I believe people had problems with them causing it to ctd. ?VVideoTexture::InitTextureRenderer(): could not find output pin [80040216] That part of the issue leans towards a codec pack is causing it like ffdshow, lavfilters, or k-lite maybe (though I run k-lite and don't have issues).

http://forum.emergency-planet.com/topic/19529-em4-crashes/ You can try to download directx 9.0 and install it, chances are your computer doesnt have dx8/9 in it since it's too new to have the required stuff from that old of a version. See the above topic for links to the older versions of DX.

The asus machine is not at all suited to gaming in any way what so ever. It apparently has 1 gig of memory that must be able to be used by the OS (win8) and the video card because it's an intel integrated graphics card. So that won't leave much memory for applications and the video card to run. You really have to if you can only afford an integrated chipset look for a machine that has 4+ gb of ram, that would be available to the machine and it's OS, the applications you run, and the graphics card too.. Ideal for gaming is a standalone graphics card but on average the price jumps 250-300 for that feature alone. Some examples of decent cheaper notebooks (note most of these would require settings lowered): http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/463717/HP-Pavilion-TouchSmart-Laptop-Computer-With/ http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/473950/Toshiba-Satellite-L55-Laptop-Computer-With/ http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/703765/Dell-Inspiron-15-Laptop-Computer-With/ (^NO DVD/CD Drive) http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/998543/Dell-Inspiron-M531R-i5335-2684sLV-Laptop/ For older games all of these will work on med to low settings, games with alot of smoke and dynamic lighting will struggle unless you turn off those settings. It's kind of hit and miss on these integrated chipsets.

I can't agree more.. This topic is going to end up closed now. IMO it has become nothing more than a clan promotion tool, with a hint of classic bait and switch where we have it and if you want to get it you have to join us.. That is not what EMP mod promotion is about, it is about sharing your work to the community. Not telling them someday you may get it, just not right now, unless you join our clan.. then maybe it's sooner.. Remember, actions of others affect everyone is a double edged sword.
-
Psst.. Best to make your clan more than just two or three letters because ya can't really say we own the rights to 3 letters strung together. Emergency Operations Clan Emergency Operations Center Emergency Operations Company just to name 3 that could exist under those letters without infringing.
