  1. I have the new version of the game that includes the 2012 stuff, plus a few new missions. The Frankfurt mission in which there is a radioactive cloud can not be completed so far. The 3 guys on the tanker are contaminated but only 1 jumps in the water. The other two will not jump into the water at all and therefore I can not rescue them. They end up collapsing after a while and then ultimately die on the top of the tanker. any ideas? -d
  2. "Metro" units are the ones that are assigned to the cities "Metro" rail and bus transportation services. They patrol the bus stations and rail stations, as well as have officers that ride on the bus and railcars. The county was tasked with providing the services rather than the individual cities due to the logistics involved. -d
  3. In California, there are hundreds probably. Did you mean in the city of Los Angeles or the whole state of California. -d
  4. They do have one, called "Air 5", but is is almost entirely used for search and rescue operations within the county. -d
  5. No offense, but those cars look like crap. What is the point of even releasing these? -d
  6. And it isn't even in the US... fail. -d
  7. LAPD doesn't use an Audi make of car at all in its fleet. Undercover or marked. -d
  8. So because I'm not the one doing the work, I can't give my opinion? -d
  9. All of those things mentioned have uses within the game though, with the exception of the traffic vests. It is a work vs. reward scenario with the creation of sand bags. Will spending all the time it takes to model them, script them and test them, really make that much of a benefit or impact within the game. I doubt it. Again, there is no actual use for them within the game. They would be there simply for aesthetics and add one more command... that is it. -d
  10. What would be the point of those in this game? There aren't any missions that require you to stop flooding or prevent it. I'm all for new ideas, if they would add a great feature or use in the game... but in my option (not worth much), sandbags wouldn't provide much for gameplay. -d
  11. Depends on what city this is being modeled after. Almost every city in Southern California has multiple fire stations within their cities. I live in a medium sized city for the LA area and there 5 fire stations here and one training facility with a helipad for the PD's helicopters. -d
  12. That is by design. In California, there is a law that requires law enforcement vehicles to have a steady "burning", front facing, red light. -d
  13. Try reading the bug list thread on here. None of what you posted is new, other people have brought this up many times and there are some fixes for some of it. -d
  14. I believe CTRL+Arrow keys allow you to rotate, if it isn't those, try PgUP, PgDn, Insert, etc. -d
  15. Standpipes are used as a water distribution system within a building. The firefighters carry un-charged hoses to upper floors, connect to standpipe connections on those floors and charge their lines. And yes, the water goes TO the building from a pumper. -d
  16. Click on the downloads tab along the top of the forums. The website has just migrated from one server to a new one and some links are still broken. -d
  17. Did you bother to click on the link at the top that says "DOWNLOADS"??? It is in there... I'll save you the trouble though, and give you a link to it. look next time.
  18. I think he just took parts of LA and incorporated them into a collective map. I can tell you from living here, that Wilmington is full of oil refineries and looks like utter crap -d
  19. 404 Errors are the result of a file that doesn't exist. You'll probably have to find another source to download 1.9 from. Edited to Add: That lamodificationcenter.com website has a lot of errors on it, incorrect links and missing files. Not really put together that nicely in my opinion. -d
  20. Then for those people are aren't in the fire fighting profession... like the mod maker... you should explain that "tagging" a hydrant is hooking the pumper up to a hydrant for water supply. -d
  21. Shoot it until it becomes on fire, then put out the fire, tow and repeat as needed on other vehicles. -d
  22. If your system is saving the .zip file as a Word doc with the .doc extension, there is a messed up association somewhere. Have you tried it in Internet Explorer and Firefox? Say the downloaded file is "Los_Angeles_Mod_v2-0_by_Hoppah.doc", rename it to "Los_Angeles_Mod_v2-0_by_Hoppah.zip". You should be able to open up that zip file with your default archive program (WinRAR, WinZip, 7Zip, etc.). Extract the two files within the zip file to your desktop or a temporary folder. You need to run the mod installer, "Los Angeles Mod v2.0.exe", that will run the installer which will then install the files for the mod into the game. If the file is saving with the .zip extension, but when you double click on the file Word opens, your system has .zip associated with Word as the default program. Holding down the Shift button, click on the .zip file and choose "Open With". Select your zip file program from the list and check the box to always open that type of file with that program. That should fix the association problem for you. -d
  23. What is the size of the "word" doc? If it is the same size as the mod (152MB), rename the file with a .zip extension on it and try opening it. If your system is saving it as a Word doc... you've got some problems on your side. -d
