  1. As I said, not in LA County, and not a department that is represented in the game.
  2. I didn't say it was easy But not as impossible as my usual ones with no markings! After all, this IS a challenge!! Nope. Neither of those.. next hint: Not in LA County.
  3. Definetly not SDPD... some hints 1) the city name is visible 2) the city seal is visible too
  4. Nope, it's not a unit in the game. No, but great guess. They have very similar paint schemes with the stripes, but alas, Nope.
  5. That is the new BC's rig, so far I think Batt 2 is the only one with it. The others are slowly rolling out, but I'm still seeing a lot of the old white over red GMC's still in front line service so who knows when these things will become widespread.
  6. Hopefully someone can get this just as fast! I had to throw out a lot of "impossible" shots and went with one that I think might give a challenge but not to impossible. I'm looking for the city on this one and you get both a motor unit and a patrol car!
  7. Perry Hi-way Hose Co. Ladder 70 Summit Township in Erie County, Pa
  8. You got it! Finally someone who did more then just guess random counties Told you to think California LOL
  9. Port Police and LAPD dive teams are focused more on criminal investigation and evidence recovery then on life saving rescue. While they do train and work beside LAFD and LACoFD's dive teams in rescue situations, they, like the FBI's Dive Unit in LA are primarily focused on Law Enforcement related underwater issues. As for harbor patrol, I have to ask what do you mean? The LAPP patrol the Los Angeles Port and the only "harbors" that I can think of are Marina Del Rey, Westlake, and Castaic which are patrolled by the LASD unit in the game. What exactly are you asking for? I don't know where you heard that the older white boxes aren't used anymore. Today alone I have seen 102's, 888's and one other, possibly 860's in the older white boxes. The BSS RA's are similar to them, but have different lighting and are used mostly as a canteen vehicle on large incident. The LAFD CERT program is separate and not affiliated with the BSS. While I am sure some BSS volunteers are CERT members too, the two programs are not linked. I haven't seen SU1 since the Topanga Fire in 2005, but SU2 has been active in the Valley for much of this year. Ugh what a boring mission! LOL. Most of the stations just drove around, reported no damage, no problems and went home. A few unfortunate souls in the west end of the valley, along with USAR 88 from Sherman Oaks, got stuck mopping up water at the Macy's at the Topanga Mall when a 6 inch water line broke. County Fire had a few areas with minor structural damage in and around Pomona, but no real issues. The only call of notice was unrelated to the earthquake and was a small 5 acre brush fire in El Sereno. LAFD engines and brush patrols were able to get a handle on it rather quickly though and prevented it from spreading into the homes in the area. Now the 94 earthquake would be a good basis for a mission. I recommend that everyone who is interested in just how bad and chaotic a disaster can get read Battalion Chief Schneider's own words here in his activity report for that incident. Here is a quote that has always stood out in my mind ever since I first read it many years ago: Mike
  10. Nope to all of those, when I said north of san diego, i wasn't implying it was anywhere close to SD, just that any other choice had to be north of it. Think... *California*.
  11. Nope to both. Anyone know without just random guessing? It's not a county bird, but a City one and frankly, there are 475 cities in California, so we'll be here for a while if you try and guess them all! Mike
  12. Within the city of Los Angeles, you have the Dam areas, Hansen and Woodley with large parks, the Hollywood Hills/Encino Hills/Santa Monica Mountains, the Griffith Park area, the foothills around Chatsworth, Big and Little Tujunga Canyon, La Tuna Canyon, Pacific Palisades, and I'm sure there are some other places. Even with all of those areas, there is a reason why LAFD has only 3 water tenders and they're old and run down. Maybe one or two responses a year require water tenders, and usually LACoFD and LA Parks are more then enough. Mike
  13. Nope. but the good news is, you can only go north from there
  14. If you roll your mouse over the dispatch in the tab window, you'll see it says: "Respond Metro Division (SWAT) and Bomb Squad to neutralize the suspicious device and locate the suspect. Request a Task Force as well as a Paramedic Ambulance to stage 1 block out for safety" You'll want SWAT or your units of choice to locate the armed suspect and take him into custody. In the Police menu, you'll also find the Bomb Squad unit. Respond him to the location of the suspicious device and either use the officer or the robot, which you can deploy from the SUV to disarm the device. You should also respond an LAFD Task force of 2 engines and a Truck company as well as a Paramedic ambulance in case the device explodes. You might want a 2nd ambulance for the officers and suspect as well. The tool tip for this on says: "Respond PD to the scene to breakup the illegal demonstration and arrest anyone who does not leave willingly. Use Barricades and request Metro for water canon if needed. Have a Paramedic Ambulance and EMS Supervisor stage 1 block out until scene is secure for Officer Safety." Here are a few tactics you can use: 1) Shoot the protester with the sign and then use the SWAT armored vehicle with the canon to keep the other ones at bay while you use your paramedics to pick him up and transport him. 2) Use flash bangs (2 or 3 staggered one after another) to disorient everyone and rush an officer to arrest the protester with the sign and quickly put him in a vehicle You only need to arrest and remove the protester with the sign, once he or she is inside of a vehicle, the rest of the people walk off normally. Mike
  15. No, just because they are with the Arson Investigation Section of the Los Angeles City Fire Dept, does not mean they have a rank of or equal to Captain or higher. Many of them are Firefighter Specialist III's and higher. Not to be patronizing or anything, but Big city equals Big city problems. Gotta love that huge beast over at 70s. It's just a monster in every way. While I'd love to see more County units in the game, I won't lie that I'm biased, one unit that might be better off is the water tenders used by the Los Angeles City Parks department. You can see a small pic here . Because LAFD's tenders are so old and have many issues, the LA Parks and Rec Depts 2 tenders are called out and used on most assignments. Also, the Parks and Rec rigs have deck guns unlike the County rigs. Mike
  16. Nope, it's not from the aussies, though I do have a few pics of their birds somewhere around here... hmm. I wouldn't say wayyy off, maybe just wayy or way, but definitely not wayyy. First clue: The numbers on the top are 19
  17. Heh, as I said before, I'll never tell my methods ... (sneaks off to book mark that website)..... I'd love the city this bird flies for, lets see what y'all can come up with.

  19. I may, in the near future, post a simple primer on the LAFD apparatus. With the great city of Los Angeles being so large and constantly changing, the task is a daunting one. It is not your normal 5 station fire department with a handful of vehicles in the motor pool. I will see what I can do though, but be patient, it will not be a priority. Let me try and answer these now. A Fire engine is a Pumper. Just a different name for the same vehicle. Truck 10 would be a tiller aerial ladder truck. They do not carry any hose or water on the truck, they have no plumbing at all, nor a tank. They carry a complement of ground ladders, forcible entry tools, cribbing, extrication tools, and in certain areas they'll carry either over the side rescue or swift water rescue gear in conjunction with the Engine that is attached to them. All trucks but 1 are in a Light force configuration. In the Light force configuration, the truck is staffed with a Capt II, Apparauts Operator, and 3 firefighters (one in the rear box as the tillerman). The 2-Car is staffed with an Engineer for a total of 6 men in the light force. Many of the Light forces are now paramedic assesment which allows the Paramedics to rotate off of the RA's and onto the trucks and engines as well as getting paramedic assement and treatment started quickly. Depending on the station, the gear is split between the engine and the truck so that the Light Force can function as either a truck company or an engine company on scene but they are never broken up. Truck 9 is the only special truck in the city. They operate alone due to the area they work in having such a high incidence of calls. The area is known colloquially as Skid row and they have a high incidence of medical aids, rubbish fires, and other get-and-go calls. Because of that, Engine 9 and 209 are both fully staffed stand alone engines. Besides that one station, the rest operate in the Task Force/Light force configuration. As you said, by adding a single engine resource to the Light force, you then have a task force. The 10 man task force is the core of the LAFD response matrix and can handle most incidents and allows for great flexibilty as either 2 engines or an engine and a truck company. A typical station is LAFD Fire Station 88 with Engine 88, Light Force 88, RA 88, and RA888. No snorkels since the bad accident in 1970 that killed Fireman Collier. And no, none of the trucks are pre-plumbed. They do carry a monitor along the side. Depends what gear you are referring to. More then likely, it's the Light force. The HAZMAT Squad just carries hazardous materials incident gear and the USAR rigs are like beefed up trucks without the ladders. They carry confined space rescue gear, trench rescue, and collapse shoring. They are bassically a rolling tool box and lumber yard. They also carry forcible entry and extrication gear which is why they'll respond to fires and vehicle accidents. Air conditioning for the cab. The red lights are either LED or Halogen emergency warning light flashers. All of the side flashers in that style flash in a either very slow, boring, single flash, or sometimes a double flash.
  20. The White over Red box with the oval lights are no longer in service and have long since been replaced. We already have one "old" RA, why have another? This isn't a harp, nor am I jumping on you, but really, what is your reasoning behind wanting it included? Let me be very explicit and clear here. When requesting something, please have an answer better then "It looks cool/neat/nifty" or any other adjective. Put some thought into it like many people here do. Explain how it would add or change the game play, tell us why you think it would make a difference in the game to the current units, put some thought into WHY you want it and what purpose it would serve. Putting up a picture of a vehicle and saying how about this is not the kind of suggestion Hoppah is looking for. With tons of crown vics and other similar items in the game, we're looking to specialize and diversify, not just have 100 vehicles that do the same but have different paint. As for the LAFD Command post, one idea being tossed around is to use that model to replace the control panel at the Fire station. As for the Engines, something special might be in the works in the not-so-near future. But the same can be said about all of the apparatus in game. 1.6 just came out, enjoy it, 1.7 is quite a ways off Welcome @ Lord Bonev The link does work if you copy and paste it. Angelfire has some pretty strong anti-hotlinking features. In the future though, if you have something to say that is directed at just one person like that, please just use the PM button and let him know instead of posting in the topic.
  21. That is correct. Coroners vans in LA all have amber lighting. It is only the Special Operations rigs that have red lights.
  22. Spaloo, as usual, is spot on. The only thing I'd add is that units can be dispatched to a call while en route from the hospital back to the station. After the patient is delivered and the vehicle is restocked or deconed as neccesary, the vehicle goes back into service and available for a call. Mike
  23. Let me start off by posting 2 admin comments. FIRST: This is not your personal bitch rag. If someone says something to you that you do not like, report it and reply via pm. I've spent the last hour deleting tons of bitches back and forth between members and I will say this right now... That Kind Of Behavior Will NOT Be Tolerated On This Forum! We have a PM function and a report function for a reason. USE IT and knock off the back and forth. SECOND: USE the pm function. If you have a question or comment about someone elses work, like the edited undercover cars, or such... PM them!!!! This is the Central Suggestions/Ideas thread, not a place for people to talk amongst each other. now then.... FPS/Homeland Security police The DHS/FPS and FBI Police are federal security officers. They don't really patrol or do anything besides provide security for federal buildings. FF Paramedics That may be a compromise we look into, please keep the ideas coming regarding this. Each one helps us all figure out if a compromise is worth doing. Red = Arson Investigator, Orange = Captain. FBI Sirens FBI, DEA, and the few ATF vehicles i've seen in this area all use the Fed Sig smart siren. It sounds nothing at all like the ones you posted, but is identical to the LAPD and just slightly different then the LASD sounds. LAFD Brush Patrol Hummer TheParanoid is absolutely correct. As Brian Humphries states, the LAFD Hummers are no longer in service and haven't been for quite some time. LAFD had 2 in service at one point, one being at 109s. The museum was able to aquire one of them, and the other, which had rolled on an incident, might still be on the For Sale block. None are in service. CDF Not a problem. Give it a couple of good summers and you'll know where every station is soon enough, and which ones have the best showers!. Alot of times you'll see CDF rigs stopping off at Local Govt stations for a pit stop due to their long travels to and fro throughout the state. I can't tell you how many times we'd look around for a FS just so we could grab a shower, and use something other then a rest stop bathroom lol. SCBAs For us, its usually the 2 FF's in the back who suit up enroute, and the capt and engineer get out and suit up. LAPD Mobile Command Post Just for info, the mobile community centers and command posts are pretty much just rolling desks. Inside is just a place for officers and commanders to huddle around and fill out reports and such. Those small ones are pretty unimpressive. An LAPD Command Post might just be a good idea though. Even perhaps changing the current large SWAT CP to have some new features like the FBI might allow for much more function and use. LAPD SWAT The LAPD does not use that type of vehicle at all for SWAT. Instead they use a mix of plain SUVs and the Armored vehicles. LAPD Huey The Light Force concept may be included in future versions. It is something I'm personally hoping for. The idea would be to turned Engine 2 into a true 2-Car and when the send fire truck command is issued, both the Truck and 2-Car respond. As for the Huey, the LAFD old blue huey is no longer flying and hasn't for quite some time. As soon as the new LAFD agustas are in service, the LAPD is hoping to get one of the 412s for their use, but nothing has been decided as of yet. Monitors The LAFD Wagon Batteries (deck guns) are permanently fixed to the engine. The monitors on the ground are carried by the truck companies and deployed by the Light Force.
  24. Heh, I asked hoppah to answer for me since I had to go out of town for a bit. But thossi got it right, It an RSO car as you can see in this side shot
