Unfortunately, I dont have MSN or AIM. I'm looking at getting either a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 or a Q9400. The Q6600 has a 8MB L2 cache, but the Q9400 has a higher FSB (1333 Mhz vs. 1066 Mhz) and clock speed (2.53 GHz vs. 2.4 GHz), but it has a smaller cache (only 6MB L2). I've heard that the Q6600 is easy to overclock so I'm not too worried about the clock speed. Which CPU would you recommend? Would a high level dual-core offer more bang for my buck? I want to avoid buying AMD at all costs. I'll be mainly using the computer for school and gaming. The reason I'm thinking about getting a new computer is because I'm sick and tired of my current, slow, old comp lagging in just about everything I do. For example, when I make a video call in Skype, my CPU usage shoots up to 100% and stays there until I restart the computer. On the video card. I currently use a 8500 GT. I would use it in my new comp but the only problem is that its a PCI card, not PCI express. I definitely want to get an Nvidia card, but I dont have the money to go for their GTX (10 series) line, so I'll have to go with the next best thing, which is a 9800 GT or GTX. What would you recommend?

The shipping is free. They sent me a disc even though I had no intention of buying.

Incase you haven't noticed, the USAR squad ingame is USAR 85. USAR 85 only has a single rear axle. -

It could work in the same way as the FBI MCV. The firefighters get in and after a second or two they are healed. I like the idea of the time bar. It's more realistic to wait a little bit to heal them instead of instantaneous. -
Here's how you can do it. Take the LA mod thats currently installed and rename the folder. Then open the LA mod folder. You should see a file named "e4mod". Open it up and change the "mod name" string to whatever you want. Once you have done this you can then install a second copy of the mod. Sorry about that, try this one. Make sure you drag the folder in the "Mods" folder instead of copy and pasting it. PM_stretcher_team_patch.zip

Are you trying to remove the paramedic from the ALS fire engine, or ambulance? Uploaded below is a "patch" that removes the single paramedic for the ambulances. It also edits the default staffing of the RAs when you call them from off map manually. Let me know if it works. The one thing I haven't tested is the police officer's command to call the RA. It's possible that a PM stretcher team and a single PM will be called. If that is the case, message me and I will fix it and re-upload it here.

Emergency 3 Los Angeles County CA LIFEGAURD
billyfromhill replied to Darren-NYPD's topic in Technical Help
Would love to have this in EM4 -
Two things. First I have an update on the FBI MCV bug. If the injured personnel are in the deployed MCV and you undeploy it and redeploy it, they are healed exactly how they should be. Second, I got a game crash when I emptied FS1 with a FF/EMT carrying a injured person in the garage. Not a big deal but I thought I would let you know.

To make the Captain/Lieutenant different from the BC you could make them only able to call certain units such as Engine 1 & 2, a light force, both kinds of RAs, the BC, and police backup. The specialized units (USAR, HAZMAT etc.) would have to be called via the BC or the unit menu. EMT stretcher teams could call for a ALS RA, ALS engine, and a EMS supervisor. PM stretcher teams could call for a BLS RA and the EMS supervisor. USFS FFs could call the fire plane. USAR FFs could call the heavy rescue. Regular FF/PMs and FF/EMTs wouldn't be able to call anything. -

It is a good idea but we must ask ourselves, "Does LA actually have a chief/commander like that"? One option might be to give the USAR FF the ability to call for the heavy rescue, and give the EMS supervisor the ability to call for the coronor. On the BC and EMS supervisor being almost the same. I initially thought (before 1.7 was out) the the EMS supervisor would only be able to call medically related units such as the ALS RA, the BLS RA, Engine 1, air ambulance, and maybe a light force, along with a patrol car. When the beta manual came out I realized I was wrong. -

I would rather have the USFS crew bus then the LAFD van. The reason being that I doubt that the LAFD uses that van for transporting FFs to incidents. Wildland firefighting is quite a bit different then structure/urban firefighting. In cities, additional personnel usually comes with their apparatus rather then in a van. MikesPhotos should be able to tell us what that van is used for. -
I own 911FR but I'm thinking abot getting EM4 Deluxe. I under stand that it is in German. If I use the LA mod with it every thing in the LA Mod will be english except for the supervisor videos. Could I just copy and paste the whole language file for 911FR over the EM4 Deluxe language folder? Would EM4 Deluxe completely be in english then? I think there's a value in the confg file you need to change also.

What is the usual staffing of the foam tenders and HAZMAT squads?

There is really no "scripting" involved in adding vehicles. You have to create prototype and unit files and you have to edit quite a few other files for the vehicle to appear ingame, but there is no scripting. You'll have to ask MikesPhotos what that van is used for. Here's an idea, how about a USFS crew bus to transport USFS FFs to fires. -
That's no bug. Jaws were taken off the engines in 1.7. You have to use a ladder, USAR squad, heavy rescue, or LACoFD squad to get jaws.

Isn't Engine 1 sent to the closest fire station?

Use an engineer or USCG worker.

Sorry for the double post but I have a third problem. I've made completely new prototype files for my new EMT stretcher team with the 1.4 skin. I've copied the LAFD FF/EMT model files and renamed them to what I want. I then took the 1.4 skin and renamed it to the same as the copied, renamed model files. The problem is that the 1.4 skin refuses to show up on the copied files as you can see below. The 1.4 skin is named the same as the copied models and its in the proper folder. When I take the 1.4 skin and rename it to the same as the current skin for the PM/EMT stretcher team, it works perfectly. I dont see why it will work properly on the original models and not on the copied ones. They're the same models, just renamed. What I want is two EMT stretcher teams. One with the current skin, one with the 1.4 skin. The 1.4 skin refuses to appear on the copied model. But it appears perfectly on the original model. Anybody know how to get the 1.4 skin onto the copied models? I shouldn't have to UV-map anything because the 1.4 skin appears on the original models. EDIT: Fixed all my problems. You can lock and delete now.

Theres going to be a command to call SWAT sometime in a future version. -
Well, I've fixed my initial problem (see first post), but now I have more problems. I want to assign the old paramedic (1.4) skin to the current FF/EMT stretcher team. I want two stretcher teams when I'm finished, one with the old light blue skin, and one with the current skin. So I've copied the FF/EMT stretcher model files and renamed them to what I want. When I rename the 1.4 skins to the same name as the copied model files, the 1.4 skin doesen't show up on the copied models in the editor. What shows up is the current skin as you can see below. The prototype files I am using are copies of the FF/EMT stretcher team files. But as you can see I've renamed them and assigned the model path to the copied and renamed files. The problem is that the 1.4 skin doesen't show up at all. The 1.4 skin is named the same as the copied model files, its in the proper folder, and the model file path in the prototype file is assigned to the copied models. See below. The amr_emt_stretcher.DDS file in the upper left is the one thats giving me trouble. It refuses to appear on the copied models. Here's the kicker. When I rename the 1.4 skin to ff_emt_stretcher, in an attempt to test the skin in place of the current skin, it works perfectly with the 1.4 skin showing up on the model. The only problem is that I have only one EMT stretcher team instead of two. I'm thinking that the problem is in the copied prototype files, but I don't know. The skin just doesen't seem to be associating with the copied, renamed model files. BTW heres what the skin is supposed to look like.

While I was looking through the radio .WAVs, I saw that there was a sound to call SWAT. Is this function included in 1.8 or was it included for future use?
-
The FBI MCV doesen't seem to be healing people inside of it. See screens below. At 8:02 the FBI agent has low health before getting in the MCV. He gets in at 8:04 At 8:25 the FBI agent's health is still where it was. When he gets out his health is where it started at. EDIT: If the injured personnel are in the deployed MCV and you undeploy it and redeploy it, they are healed exactly how they should be.

Lol, I love the BC's light force joke.

What a suprise, I didn't expect 1.8 so soon. Thanks for all your work.
