  1. Very nice. Where can I download it?
  2. It's like that in Ohio. You can buy fireworks here, but you can't shoot them off.
  3. At some stores in the US you can preorder Wimdows 7 Home Premium for $50. That's what I'll be doing.
  4. If I can get an upgrade to the eqivelent of Vista Home Premium for under $150 I will most likely be upgrading. Gotta get ready for the DX11 GT300 cards coming out.
  5. Yup, a light force is a five man ladder truck plus the one man "2-car" (the engine). Add a fully staffed engine (four men) and you get a task force.
  6. So the cutters should be removed from the LACoFD squad ingame and the EMT bag added?
  7. Usually you have to set up RAID before you install your OS because it wipes the drives and the MBR. The fourth PCIe slot is there so you can run tri-SLI with a dedicated card for PhysX. I wouldn't worry too much about how new the board is. All of EVGA's other boards are rock solid. There's another board from EVGA new also. The X58 Micro. It's sort of a shame you won't be doing amy overclocking. The 920's can easily hit upwards of 4 GHz with good cooling and the right voltage.
  8. Don't forget if you live near a Microcenter that have the i7 920 for $229.99. Not really. Newegg has the X58 LE for $219.99 after MIR. That Gigabyte board you plan to get is only $184.99 after MIR. It's only $35 bucks more. If you can afford it go for it since you get that fourth PCIe X16 slot on the X58 LE. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...mp;Tpk=X58%20LE Go with the Caviar Blacks then. If they're in RAID 0 they should be on par with a Velociraptor. Well, this time the wait for GT300 will be worth it. Nvidia has new technology that is reported to be much, much, much faster then any current card. Take a look at the article below and you'll see what I mean. http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2009/...-cgpu!.aspx If your dead set on upgrading go with a GTX 275 or 285. You might want to think about upgrading that power supply. If you're doing any overclocking it might not be enough.
  9. Make sure you get a D0 stepping one. Go with the EVGA X58 LE mobo. Just came out and it looks real nice. BTW Nvidia doesen't make any chipsets for i7. Only X58 will work. http://www.evga.com/articles/00481/ I use three of the WB Caviar Black HD is RAID 5 and they are fast. I recommend. Look at the WD Velociraptors also. Corsair Dominators all the way. Keep in mind DDR3 runs in triple channel so you need three sticks. Go with 6 GB (3 x 2GB) of Corsair Dominators. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145232 Use the 9800 GTX+ you already have. The GTS 250 is a slightly (very slightly) better 9800 GTX+. Reuse your current card and wait until the GT300 cards hit the market in Q4 2009-Q1 2010 and then upgrade. What about a case and PSU? Are you going to reuse your current ones? What about a CPU cooler?
  10. If you do make that, be sure to release it as a separate download for the LA mod. I would love to have that also.
  11. If you overclock your CPU that should eliminate the bottleneck. Good choise though. EVGA has amazing customer support plus they have this nifty piece of software called Prescision which allows you to overclock the video card really easily. When you get the card, don't use the drivers on the CD as they're probably outdated. Just download the newest ones from Nvidia.
  12. Get a EVGA GTX 260 Core 216 55nm version. It's one of the best price/performance cards out there. EVGA has excellent costomer service also. I use a EVGA GTX 260 Core 216 superclocked (bought regular version and got the superclocked version in a regular box, go figure), and I couldn't be happier. BTW the GTS 250 is a slightly better 9800 GTX+, but worth it IMO.
  13. Check your fans, esp. the CPU fan and video card fan.
  14. Here is a photo of the LARC from Sodus Point FD and a link to Nantucket Fire's LARC. http://www.capecodfd.com/PAGES%20Appar%202/NALarc.htm
  15. 1. Two task forces plus a RA and USAR for RIT. Police as needed. 2. One task force plus RA's as needed. USAR or heavy rescue if needed for manpower or scene lighting. Police as needed. 3. One task force plus USAR as RIT plus RA. Police as needed. 4. 3-4 patrol cars. RAs as needed.
  16. Get a WD VelociRaptor for your OS and programs. They're almost as fast as SSD's and cost much less.
  17. Future lives? Sounds like people live more than one life?. Might want to change that.
  18. For now get a high-end quad core. I use the Q9300 and I have it running at 3.4 GHz (up from 2.5 GHz stock) on the EVGA 750i FTW. Get a Q9550 or Q9650. They both have 12 MB of cache and higher multipliers so you can overclock higher with them. I'm going to get a Q9550 or Q9650 when the 32nm CPUs come out from Intel and the prices on the 45nm's drop.
  19. Oh? Nvidia makes two of the top three cards. 1. GTX 295 2. 4870 X2 3. GTX 285
  20. It's better to buy a quad core now because in 1-2 years games will support them. Lots of game support dual cores, only like one or two support 4 cores today. I'll agree with you there. I'm sort of miffed that Core i7 uses LGA 1366. Oh well, it gives me an excuse to get another computer in 3-4 years. Again the Phenom II line is comparable to the Core 2 Quad line from Intel. IMO if your going to use DDR3 you might as well go Core i7 for like $50-$60 more. There's lots of them, Dell even makes Core i7 desktops. Again, i7 has 4 cores with two processing threads per core. Its a "fake" 8 core CPU.
  21. Well it is more expensive. But you can't beat eight processing threads. Over here in the states I can get the Phenom II 810 for $167.99. I payed $169.99 for my Q9300. Two dollars more for 2 MB more of cache? Yes, the Phenom II 810 has a .1 GHz advantage, but the Q9300 has 6 MB of cache. The disparity in clock speed can easily be overcome through overclocking, but cache sizes can not be changed. As it is I have my Q9300 running at 3 GHz. The best Phenom II (940 Black Edition) comes in at 3 GHz with 6MB of cache, whereas I can get a Q9450 for the same price as a Phenom II 940 and it has a clock of 2.66 GHz with 12 MB of cache. The 940 Black Edition will overclock higher then the Q9450, but at the end of the day it only has 6 MB of cache. Cache speed and the # of cores is what matters nowadays, clock speed doesen't matter as much. Core i7 only uses DDR3. DDR2 will not work with i7. Drive imaging is good but you will need make new images every time you install something. RAID 1 does it automaticly over two drives and you can keep using the PC if one drive in the array goes down. One more thing. Will you be overclocking your Phenom II 810 and/or the GPU and RAM?
  22. Those Phenom IIs have good value. Personally, I prefer Intel because their 45nm processors have been out longer and with the 32nm coming out end of this year/early next year. Should of gone Core i7 if your using DDR3. Instead if those three 500 GB HDDs (in RAID presumably) you should of gone with two (or more) solid state drives in RAID 0 and then two 1 TB HDDs in RAID 1. Your OS and games go on the SSDs and your files go on the HDDs. SSDs have wicked fast read/write times and RAID 0 only increases it more. A 4890 with a 525 watt PSU? No Crossfire for you. Lastly, what case are you using?
