  1. Ah ok, was confused by the line in Hoppah's tutorial "40. Make sure the paths to these files have been changed in metastrings.xml too." but guess this just means change the strings if the root folder has been changed or something. You have any idea what might be the matter? EMUK1
  2. Hey, thanks for the reply, had done that already I'm afraid. Files I modified were: - Unit.xml (and images etc. in unit folder) - Specs/portraits, freeplaybase etc. - Language/en/portraits and infotexts I'm thinking the problem was with Specs/metastrings cos I couldn't work out how to modify that? Thanks again. EMUK1
  3. Hi guys, Having followed Hoppah's tutorial I can't seem to be able to get the Name, Purpose, Tooltip or some images for my vehicles to appear, nor can I get images for my personnel. (Screens below). Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Screens Thanks in advance for any help EMUK1
  4. What I meant is that as I haven't actually released anything yet, nor do I intend to until I have permission from anyone involved, there shouldn't be any problems
  5. Hi, you will see I have now put credit underneath pics of some models and will update the rest in due course, however, as I never implied I had made models for the mod; have not released anything and will ask permission before I do, I don't think I've done anything wrong?
  6. Hey, thanks very much, will do - nothing's going to be released without permission. Thanks for the tip about putting credit underneath the pictures, will get round to that soon
  7. Heya - mod's looking very good! Very excited for the release As a suggestion: you might want to consider having hazmat police officers and paramedics as well as fire? Probably going to do this in my own mod because it is a continual annoyance (and not particularly realistic) that patients have to be decontaminated before they can be stabilised? Personally just going to use the fire hazmat model for all 3 services (fire green, ambulance orange and police blue/black). Anyway, keep up the great work.
  8. Hey Dave, wasn't aware that northern didn't have one so a bit of artistic license I reckon? I'm assuming the other forces have agreements to provide one if needed? Thanks.
  9. Hey Thanks for the heads up, had seen the scotland mod but I think I'll go my own way with this for now, just because I've got a lot of free time at the moment, and am not sure how much commitment I'll be able to put into the mod when I have less time and don't want to let anyone down. I downloaded a model from another website and recoloured it for the sign, although it's just a model at present and can't be placed by police in-game. Again, the tape cannot be placed but can be found in the game editor (Objects -> Street -> Barrier (or something similar)).

  11. Update: Still here, just been busy with some personal stuff at the moment but will try to get back to the mod as soon as. Cheers. I've started a Scotland mod for emergency 4. I would like to make some points clear before you read any further: 1. I do not yet have permission to distribute some of the models used in the mod, therefore, the vehicles/personnel shown in previews may not appear in any mod releases. 2. As yet, there is no release date for the mod, please do not get your hopes up as this may not be for a long time yet!! 3. If anyone sees anything they like here, I am using this as much to advertise my work as anything else, so if you have a project, feel free to get in touch. emuk1 AMBULANCE Air Ambulance Model Credit: Emergency 3 Emergency Ambulance Emergency Ambulance Neonate Transfer Unit Ford Focus RRU Model Credit: Civil Cars Cooperation Volvo V70 RRU Model Credit: Civil Cars Cooperation Mountain Rescue Land Rover Model Credit: Civil Cars Cooperation Ambulance Crew Model Credit: Emergency 3 FIRE AND RESCUE Scania Fire Engine Model Credit: Chidea POLICE Dog Unit Model Credit: Civil Cars Cooperation LR Defender Model Credit: Civil Cars Cooperation Mercedes Sprinter Model Credit: Civil Cars Cooperation Ford Focus Model Credit: Civil Cars Cooperation ...
  12. Heya, I had the same problem with em3/em4. The problem seems to be related to a windows update and the display adaptor (intel 945). I fixed it, as suggested below, by uninstalling the current drivers for the adaptor and reinstalling with old ones. 1. Uninstall the windows updates which are causing the problem (not sure which, or if this is an essential step, but I uninstalled the ones near when the problem started) 2. Unistall and delete the current drivers for your display adaptor. Restart your computer. 3. Download and install the drivers from the intel website (here). The download you are looking for is the oldest there (from "4/17/2008"). 4. Restart. You may then need to restart a second time. 5. Hopefully your game will function normally! I'd recommend making a system restore point at this time, if it does. Enjoy your game. EMUK1
  13. Heya, I'm getting exactly the same problem and have done in the past with em3. I fiddled for an age with it and eventually worked out it seems to be a compatability error with one of the windows vista (are you running this) updates and my display adaptor - intel 945 express. I can't seem to be able to fix it this time, and will keep trying but any help in the meantime would be appreciated. I've attached my logfile. The problem is the same with both the editor and game - just click on the link, the a blank window opens (with em4 or whatever in the title bar) and then crashes to desktop within a few seconds. Don't think it's a codec problem, as they all seem to be in order but am double checking at the moment so will update in due course. Thanks EMUK1 EDIT The problem seems to be related to a windows update and the display adaptor (intel 945). 14. OK, cheers, by screen mode values do you mean changing to the resolution I'm using e.g. "x_val" and "y_val"? Have tried at a range of values including the one mine should be but no luck Sorry about the double posting, tried to put it all in the first message once I realised how many posts I'd made but then couldn't delete. Won't happen again. Update: Have tried removing all but the original and essential windows codecs with no luck as well as changing the screen values settings through a whole range of them. Is there anything else that might be wrong, or is it just going to be a case of continuing to disable codecs until I find what's causing the trouble? Also, is there any other cause for the screen mode error, as I'm fairly sure that my values in the cfg file are right? Also, ran windows event viewer on the computer and it identified the following fault, not sure if it's useful or not: Faulting application Em3.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x43d0f329, faulting module VISION71.DLL, version 4.1.37.0, time stamp 0x420091dd, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000ac360, process id 0xd9c, application start time 0x01caa4510251686a. I assume this means it's a problem with VISION71.DLL? Update Two: OK, so I downgraded the drivers on my graphics card to older ones and the game started up (in safe mode, haven't yet tried in normal) however it's behaving very strangely - starting a tutorial mission and there's no way I can do anything (mouse does not work, keyboard does not do anything). I'll upload the log file, try to start it in normal mode and then re-update my graphics drivers to see if that works for you. Just thought I'd update at this stage in case anyone has a similar problem in future, however, if anyone could see what's going wrong at this stage I'd appreciate a heads up Cheers. FINAL UPDATE (I hope): OK, so re-updated my chipset drivers and... it works! I'm guessing maybe something had corrupted somewhere in the graphics card software maybe? (but I don't really understand these things!!) Anyway, thanks to everyone who had a look at this. Have now made a system restore point immediately after em3 was working so hopefully if it goes wrong again will just be a case of knocking it back to there. If anyone needs any help with a similar issue, I suggest you do the same as I did and I hope you get your game up and running again soon - a very frustrating error!! EMUK1 logfile.txt
