  1. This is essentially a copy/paste from my post on the A3 Steam Discussion Boards, but I thought I might as well broaden my horizons in order to reach more potential players. Event is tentatively Saturday, May 5th 1800 CDT (2300 UTC). Looking for up to 29 mature (aged 16+, but not a hard limit) players to play the role of FIA rebels attempting to take Stratis from the AAF (who will be under my 'command' as Zeus). The rebels will start off with very little equipment but will have immediate opportunities given to them to grow in strength. This will likely be something that requires multiple events, so this event will be the beginning of the campaign and however long it takes before a consensus is reached to call it quits for the session at a minimum. Note that this is NOT Antistasi; nothing will be procedurally generated and aside from some loose 'win' conditions, everything will be left up to the players to decide on (i.e. squad objectives). That said, player reconnaissance and Zeus-placed intelligence will provide ample opportunities for mission planning: Scout out a cache of AAF supplies? Raid the cache. Find intel on a vital comm station? Destroy it to 'cripple' AAF communications and make it harder to coordinate against the FIA. The rebel players will have much freedom in their actions, but must be careful at the same time: I will react with my forces accordingly based on what happens. FIA forces have the following command structure: 4 Squads, each with 1 Squad Leader; 4 'Riflemen'; 1 Medic; and 1 Engineer 1 Commander (who is not assigned a squad and is mostly there to coordinate the overall FIA effort - this is not a Zeus!) This position will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis to whomever desires it. In order to ensure a more complete experience, ACE (Basic medical) and TFAR will be used (as well as a few other mods). This will be a pretty vanilla experience otherwise (no RHS, CUP, etc.). Having all DLC's is a must (at least going forward). The mission will be persistent - every item collected by the rebels will remain for every playthrough. Check-in time on the TeamSpeak server is 30 minutes before the start (1730 CDT). If anyone is interested, feel free to add me on Steam (Current Steam nickname: Trololzilla. You will receive access to the TeamSpeak server and mod list once you add me and discuss your interest with me). Please keep in mind that this is my first time doing something like this, so bear with me in case of any difficulties. However, if this is well-received and everyone gets along, I am very willing to form a Squad/Group and make missions such as this a somewhat regular occurrence (including an Altis [and possibly Tanoa/Malden] guerrilla campaign following a similar format).
  2. I have been working on an English translation of all of the tutorial videos Sixteen Tons made for the EM5 editor; you can find what I've done so far in a topic a few below this one if they'd help anyone.
  3. Hello all, I haven't been active on the forum for a while but I do drop in on occasion, and couldn't help but notice since the release of Emergency 5 how most non-German speaking members were struggling to comprehend what was being said in the official World Builder tutorials, which, moronically enough, didn't come with a translation save the first video, and I haven't seen anyone try to work on translating it. Since I haven't really been active at modding for years, I decided I might as well do something and use my fluency in German to help other users with how to mod this *disappointing* game. Therefore, I spent a fair bit of time translating the second tutorial video. It's not an exact translation (with German to English or vice versa you really can't do that a whole lot lol), but it's very similar, covers everything said in the video, and there was an attempt at trying to help with clarification issues et al. Forgive me if it isn't my best work, as it was done between 2-4 AM while I was also crashing from an off-brand 5 Hour Energy lol. Do let me know if you spot any mistakes/things that need further clarification. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xWQ3f6O4hU&index=2&list=PL-4zzm545Th9iPjWyNbrPKZjQgfIxe1Fw]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xWQ3f6O4hU&index=2&list=PL-4zzm545Th9iPjWyNbrPKZjQgfIxe1Fw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHaTi1NO4Uk&index=3&list=PL-4zzm545Th9iPjWyNbrPKZjQgfIxe1Fw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1i8zuQxguoU&index=4&list=PL-4zzm545Th9iPjWyNbrPKZjQgfIxe1Fw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEigQ3GzqOQ&index=5&list=PL-4zzm545Th9iPjWyNbrPKZjQgfIxe1Fw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRzND8otfoE&list=PL-4zzm545Th9iPjWyNbrPKZjQgfIxe1Fw&index=6 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKtDraOcNC4&index=7&list=PL-4zzm545Th9iPjWyNbrPKZjQgfIxe1Fw EDIT: I've been rather busy as of late, and so haven't really had much time to come here nor work on the translations, but I did put the other two I finished a few weeks ago on here. I'm currently still working on the translation for video 5; I'll have it up as soon as I can. I hope what I've done so far has helped someone get started with EM5 modding. EDIT #2: I finished up the translation for the fifth and sixth tutorials, will have them up soon, and have begun the process for the final one. Hopefully I'll have it finished soon as well.
  4. Ugh sorry for the REALLY late reply but I've been super busy. Meh, I had a few chances to work on the fan speeds, but tbh it's not really that big of a deal to me. They scale up nicely enough with just the command center software, so I'm not all too worried about not being able to use the front panel controls. Figure some time in the future when I actually have some money again I'll get a second monitor and maybe a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO as the CPU cooling option, because at this point I highly doubt the radiator would fit unless I could get extensions for some of the mobo power cables. Some news though: managed to find a used version of my GPU on Amazon and with gift cards was able to get it for just a little over $400, which was an absolutely fantastic find. Came with the warranty and an unused copy of BF4 as well. Went home this past weekend and (somehow) managed to install it - good god, if I thought the mobo power connectors were under tension before I definitely didn't like it after I installed it. Had to remove them both and a fan cord to even get the card lined up with the PCIe slot (which it really didn't wanna go into at first, but I managed), and then had to route the 24-pin sort of behind the GPU to get it to reach. It did, but barely. And don't even get me started on how hard I had to wrestle with the supplemental CPU cord to get it up to the top and in... ugh! Guess no Crossfire for me lol. But so far, it's worked exceptionally. I thoroughly enjoyed the 6 or so hours I was able to play Skyrim on Ultra with literally sub 2 second load times haha. Also enjoying the basically 100 FPS minimum in Kerbal Space Program - good lord, does that 4770k do its job right for KSP. Not as impressed with how well World in Conflict performed, though - during the benchmark, I averaged about 60 FPS with a minimum of 27 or so and a max of 128 I think. Granted, I set everything to just ludicrously high detail settings, but man... for a 7 year old game I'm impressed at how it can still kick a modern GPU's ass lol. Some pictures: Basically right after I assembled it. Told you, cable management turned out to be HORRID. Tried to route as much as I could behind, but man, those SATA connectors just would not cooperate with orientation so I had to use two, and those power cables... believe me, I tried desperately to get them routed another way but it wasn't happening - they are really friggin short. Come to think of it, I don't remember why I didn't route more of the front panel crap through the back, since it looks like I definitely could (and should) have. Got lazy I guess. Never, EVER buying anything but a fully modular PSU again. Ugh. Maybe I'll fix it all someday... GPU, with my freakishly large hand to scale: Later in the year (when I have some money again lol) I'm definitely gonna buy some extension cables for both mobo power cables so I can actually route them from behind and not over my GPU, and I might as well get a fan splitter cable and do some SERIOUS spring cleaning on that cabling crap. Seriously considering getting a second monitor as well, and will definitely buy me a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler once I get those damn cables outta the way and have some room for the radiator. Edit: Wow... I'm an idiot lol. Just realized why the fan controllers weren't working - there was a second molex cable from the front panel that I plugged in but I never found out what it powered. I just assumed it was lights, since the Thor logo lights were powered by a molex... makes sense now haha. This should help when I clean the cables since I could route them all through the fan speed control cables and actually use the case's knobs if I wanted to, though the mobo does have the "smart" fan connectors so they're not totally necessary.
  5. Well, got my build done and set up and running just fine this past Saturday (in fact, I'm writing this on it right now haha). Build went pretty smoothly except for cable management - good lord did that turn out to be godawful. Big part of the problem was the power supply only being modular and not fully modular - had to REALLY stretch the supplemental CPU power cord up there to get it to go in. 24-pin connector was also being a little finicky, but I had much less problems with that. Lesson learned though - never again will I buy anything other than fully modular lol. Power SATA connectors got on my nerves as well, as did the fan connectors - I have fan controllers on the front panel but no idea how to connect them with the fans to actually use them as intended. Somewhat of a minor issue though, as I managed to get the speeds to adjust automatically through my control center.
  6. Well thanks for the input, both of you. Some updated specs: Case: Rosewill THOR V2 (Black) - - - Bought - MSRP $120-150, got mine for <$15 on Amazon due to gift cards CPU: Intel i7-4770k - - - Bought - MSRP $260-$350 (depends on if you buy at Microcenter or on something like Newegg), got mine for $250 on Amazon with gift cards Motherboard: MSI Z87 MPOWER - Decided against getting the MAX version since it's more money (that I ended up not having anyway lol) for not much extra. Even though MSI is pretty much hit and miss in terms of quality, I've heard very few negatives about this particular mobo. MSRP: $185-$205 Got it on Newegg for about $174.99 with a $10 rebate. GPU: SAPPHIRE ATI Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC 4GB - - - Glad I waited for Sapphire to come out with this beast. The non-reference cooling means it'll run at ~70ºC instead of 90ºC+, plus it matches my mobo color scheme and has much better memory and other enhanced performance. ONLY problem is the insane price-gouging due to those stupid crypto-currency miners. MSRP is around $550, but it's basically impossible to find under $600 now. Luckily managed to get mine on order for $470.10 before that amazing deal went away - only problem is the back order means I won't get it till mid June minimum. Oh well. HDD: Went with a 3TB Seagate Barracuda at 7200 RPM. More than enough space for me lol. Picked it up for $108 on Amazon. SSD: 120GB Samsung 840 EVO. Managed to goad my parents into buying it as an early birthday present, since it's currently on sale on Amazon for under $90. PSU: Rosewill BRONZE 1000W I got on Newegg on sale for $89.99. I agree, it is WAY overkill, but oh well. Had I known more about PSU's at the time I bought it I probably would've gone with a Gold-rated 750-850W Corsair. RAM: Ended up buying 16GB (2 x 8GB) G Skill 2400 MHz. Was gonna actually get 2133 but they sold out just before I was gonna buy my RAM so I went back to my original 2400. Got it for $189.99 (which is about what MSRP is). OS: Windows 7 64 bit. Just missed having my precious 7 on my computer. Got it at Newegg when under $90. Optical Drive: Guess I should mention this. Got an ASUS BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS 12x Blu-ray player for $69.99 on Amazon. Total I spent: $1535.99. Not bad at all considering my Alienware cost $2000 and this is probably at least 10 times the system that was lol. At this point I don't have ANY money left over haha so no after-market cooling of any sort for the time being but that's perfectly fine. Won't be OC'ing for a while at least and since it's a full tower case there'll be plenty of air flow.
  7. I have so much pent up anger, hatred, and outright resentment built up right now it hurts...

  8. ^ Holy hot damn that is one kickass lookin' Seagrave... Bit off topic but has anyone else had the chance to try out Zmodeler3? It's... different, but I'm kinda liking it thus far.
  9. Hey all, finally decided to get around to building a new gaming rig to replace my old (4 years now, damn) Alienware. Haven't got all the parts yet, but I'm well on my way. Some specs: Case: Rosewill THOR V2 (Black) CPU: Intel i7-4770k Motherboard: MSI Z87 MPOWER MAX (I know that MSI products can be questionable in terms of quality, but I'd like to stick with it) GPU: SAPPHIRE ATI Radeon R9 290 HDD: 2 TB SSD: 128 GB PSU: Rosewill 1000W (enough room for later expansion plus OC) Will probably install an after-market heat sink and maybe liquid cooling at some point. Now, I have a question about which memory to get. While the default RAM (without OC) the GPU and Motherboard can handle is DDR3 1600, it seems a bit foolish to get that instead of something like 2400 or 2600 when your components are designed specifically for overclocking. I'm looking into getting 16 GB (2 8 GB sticks) from G.SKILL's TridentX series. Any thoughts on what I should go with? The lower one to begin with and buy faster RAM when I decide to OC or just buy faster now? Thanks in advance.
  10. Goddamn, girls can really make you feel like absolute sh*t...

  11. My college GPA before GTA V is released... ... and my college GPA after GTA V is released. Oh lawdy lawd I can't wait for GTA to come out - it looks to be a VERY serious contender for GOTY, and much better than IV.
  12. I love Skyrim (very slightly more than Oblivion) for a few reasons, namely the simplicity and ease of use regarding Magic, Skills/Leveling, Enchanting, and Alchemy in comparison to Oblivion; actual weaponized combat is pretty much the same, and the return to weapons like crossbows (which haven't been used since Morrowind) is a plus in my book. Another thing I enjoy is the use of the Thu'um and the benefits they add to combat, as well as the new Vampire and Werewolf skill trees, since they make those powers MUCH more useful (an added benefit to me I suppose, since I somehow managed to get a glitch to happen in my PC version where I am a werewolf and a vampire simultaneously). I prefer the world of Skyrim much more than that of Oblivion - Oblivion's was a very generic medieval folklore type setting that, since it was mainly auto-generated, had a very bland, unloving feel to it. The massive graphical improvements and attention to detail in Skyrim's hand-crafted world is outstanding: it feels larger and is much more varied and detailed. Every dungeon and location feels like it actually belongs and there is a certain air, a magical aura about the entirety of the world that makes it that much more special, whereas in Oblivion, many locations were simply redesigned from other ones, and it got repetitive much faster than in Skyrim. The use of far more voice actors and an overall more visceral musical and SFX experience served to further enhance the world. I will agree with you though that the quests and questlines are far superior in Oblivion, as is the overall story. The quests in Skyrim are much too repetitive (Go to X, get Y and return to Z being quite cliché). I did however enjoy Oblivion's Thieves' Guild Questline more than in Skyrim's - it just felt more purposeful and had more meat to it. The lack of a Mage and Fighters' Guild also was detrimental to Skyrim's experience (while several smaller organizations step up to fill the latter, they fall *quite* short. The former is largely made up for via the College, but it isn't quite the same). Several things I do miss, however, from Oblvion, are the guards, who are, simply put, much more badass (case in point: ) and the natural and undead factions were much more varied and useful (i.e. can actually scare you, like when a half-dozen minotaurs got together and decided to have an ass-kicking party at your house). Finally, I will concede to there being a better variety and number of homes in Oblivion (especially if you have all of the DLC), but Hearthfire, despite its bugs, is fantastic in that it allows you to build and customize a home any you way you want to.
  13. Since I've now got a little free time (first time in a good long while ), I have returned for the time being. I'm honestly a bit surprised at the fact that there wasn't already an Elder Scrolls topic, but I suppose that's why I'm making one. Thoughts on the series? Favorite memories/games? Things you like/dislike/would like to see? Personally, I find the games fantastic, especially the more recent ones in Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. I'll have to make this rather brief as I'm off to the world of Minecraft for a bit before finishing some physics labs.
  14. I was looking at the incident breakdown for 2010 from a local fire department and I found a few which I have no idea what they could be. Any enlightenment? - Still (124)/Still Commercial (2) --- I do know that still is a type of alarm, but I haven't yet been able to find a clear definition of said alarm. - Wash Down (13) - Moveup Pumper (15)
  15. Well, I know the LAMod unlocks every mission once it's installed. That being said, if you just want to replay the missions, you can always just click on them and replay them. However, if you're looking to the the interregnum parts (i.e. campaign freeplay), I'm not sure you can with the LAMod.

  17. Oh, I already have like half a gig of CS. And I still can't think of much lol. I can't think of what I should do though - I want everything to look as good as some of these lol:
  18. Recently, I haven't felt my creative spark as much as I normally would, and am paying the consequences for it. Rather embarrassingly, I need ideas for Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 (my latest 'gaming phase') on what my next park should have as a theme/general feeling; setting; and maybe even types of attractions. Normally, I would create a poll... however, seeing as there are so many options available, I'll just let this be more of an opinion/idea topic. I appreciate any help lol.
  19. Oh wow. I can't think straight today. That's the term I meant lol. Lawd, school be tiresome.
  20. Lol damn I just uninstalled that. What I meant by "realistic" physics; will vehicles/buildings take 'dynamic' damage over the course of gameplay and have to be repaired i.e. a car hits a pole and has the front dynamically damaged based on the physics of the crash?
  21. For the "realistic physics", are we talking about Havok, or a different physics engine? Also, do you mean something akin to the "Euphoria" system in the never-released LucasArts Indiana Jones game? Is the destruction engine going to be capable of dynamically restructuring the gameworld/vehicles? One last question lol: what is that concept picture running on (engine wise)?
  22. Lawl. I can do some modeling then. ^ Oh Gerard. You silly.
  23. Ugh. I guess I could help too, as a modeler. Now that I have a little more free time throughout next year and I only need to work sporadically on my other mods. However, I would need one condition met: I need to know (privately of course) what kind of game engine you might be thinking of using and approximately what kind of work needs to be done so that I would know whether or not to crank up the old Zmodeler or the ever illustrious Maya.
  24. You could just order a version of the Trinity Engine without all the hardcoding that EM4 has lol.
  25. Oh noes! Hoppah is using memes!
